She wants our protection, but her safety comes with a price.

Emilia Harrison. The girl I attended Pacific Prep with. My sister’s best friend. The greatest sex I’ve ever had.

I never expected to see her again after graduation, so when she shows up in my kitchen in the middle of the night, I don’t know what to think.

Apparently there’s some psycho after her and she needs my help. My family owns a private security firm, but I can’t protect her from Wilder.

And maybe I don’t want to. Her presence brings up old feelings I don’t want to confront. It's easier to blame her for the past than face the truth.

With all of us living under one roof, it’s only a matter of time until tensions reach a crescendo, and this time, none of us will escape.

Welcome to Ridgeway, Em, where you will have to survive more than just your stalker.

ARC REVIEW***

This is a new to me Author. When I signed up to read Pretty Spiteful I didn’t know there was a four book series before this one.
BUT you do not have to have read the previous books to understand this one because it is different characters. There is some back story given so you aren’t lost at all. There are appearances from the characters in the previous series. I must now read those too 😂

This was easily a five star read for me
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book has it all.
Second chance romance
Friends-enemies-to lovers
Forced proximity
Best friends brother
Stalker
Fake dating
Why choose
Ex military bodyguard

Seriously these tropes are freaking amazing together 😍

Immediately it starts off with a Bang! The plot is amazing. The FMC has a stalker and isn’t afraid to unalive someone for her. She is being kept safe by two guys from her past and new guy that’s ex military.

The tension between them all and the banter 🥵

Hawke and Wilder are making her pay for her past mistakes all while they are realizing their true feelings they’ve been fighting to hide.

The stalker is relentless in making it known that he wants no one touching what he thinks is his.

THE FREAKING CLIFF HANGER YALL!!! 👀👀👀
I need book 2 asap 🤣

I loved this book and can’t wait to read the rest in the series to come! I will also be reading Hadley’s books that come prior to this book.

We’re back with more of my favorites from Pacific Prep and I couldn’t be more excited for it!! Pretty Spiteful is book one in @rasmythauthor trilogy for our girl Emilia and this exceeded every single one of my expectations… Every. Single. One!!

Because let’s face it, if you read the greatness that is Pac Prep, then you can’t help but love Emilia. And with her comes Hawk and Wilder, equally amazing. We got a taste of their potential in the prequel novella, Blurred Lines, so I knew we were in for a wild ride… and probably more 🍆 🤣

What I wasn’t expecting was to love our new addition to the matrix as much as our guys! I gotta say, Kai took me by surprise in the best way, balancing out the history the others brought to the table.

And good thing he’s here cause Emilia has found herself in quite the pickle! While Kai is on full protection duty, Wilder is nursing old wounds, and Hawk is protecting himself behind some high walls.

That’s not to say there’s no steam cause wooooo was there steam!!! It just marries itself well almost all the history, drama, and suspense. Can’t wait to see what book two brings!!

🌶️🌶️🌶️

New Series // College Romance // Second Chance Romance // Friends - Enemies - Lovers // Forced Proximity // Best Friends Brother // Secret Society // Stalker // Fake Dating // Ex Military/Bodyguard

Pretty Spiteful is the first book in the Ruthless Boys of Ridgeway series.

I had been counting down the days until this baby was released, devouring it once I received the ARC!!

We first met Emilia, Hawke, and Wilder in the Pacific Prep series, and I needed more of them. If you haven’t read that yet, I highly recommend you do! It’s so good!

I‘m not going to give anything away, but man, I loved this book!

Pretty Spiteful was everything I had hoped for and more! I loved the plot, the angst, the anger, and the sexual tension between Emilia and the guys.

I’ve always loved Hawke and Wilder, but now I have someone else to love too. Can we just talk about Kai for a second? There is just something about that man that is swoon-worthy, and I am here for it!

As for the cliffhanger, I want to say I have an idea as to who the stalker may be, but knowing me, I’ll be completely wrong 😂

I need Pretty Vile, and I need it now!

my fav read of 2022 <3

Currently 42% in but I will be back to write a full review.

SPOILER

In the meantime, I almost cried at this scene:

“You deserve happiness too, Hawk. I wish you’d let yourself have it.”
I squeeze her arms before dropping my hold. “Don’t worry about me, Hadley. I’m happy so long as you are happy.”

I want to hit Hawk on the head, but also hug him 😭

Couple hours later:

I FINISHED IT!!!! AND HOLY SHIT I LOVE IT.

Rachel NEVER disappoints. I love her writing style. The way she brings characters come vividly to life. The passion between characters, whether it's love or hate or both. She has a way of grabbing all your attention from the first page; it makes you want to forget about life and just devour the whole book.

That's exactly what this book did to me. I completely forgot I had shit to do. Did I even eat? Probably not.

Anyways, if you haven't read the Pacific Prep series, I HIGHLY suggest reading that series first. It's Hadley's (Emilia's best friend) story and it's absolutely amazing!!! Although you don't have to, I feel like everything will make more sense if you do. But if you don't want to(YOU SHOULD!!!), then you can start with Emilia's novella, "Blurred Lines" and then jump into this series. (BUT READ PACIFIC PREP. NO PRESSURE.)

Now with the review.

Now, I'm a little biased here because I love anything Rachel writes. She's a "one click" author for me. Anything she writes, I'll read& buy so I'm really going to try here. For the sake of others. Considering not everyone has my taste though I'd say there's a couple things not everyone will love, so I'll mention them.

1. Stalking. You should know this by the blurb! But there is violent content. Little bit of gore& descriptive scenes.
2. Hate "fuck" scenes. Although there's no actually sex, there is oral and repeated edging that definitely don't occur out of love. So if that's not something you want to read then maybe this book isn't for you.

That's where my "couple things" end lol. Besides those 2 things I'm warning you about, there's absolutely no reason why you shouldn't read this book! Even then you shouldn't rule it out. It's an incredible read and I KNOW you'll enjoy it.

Cont. with my review

From Pacific Prep I was attached with Wilder, Emilia, and Hawk's story so going into this book I really didn't want some other guy in the harem. I thought "who tf is Kai and why is he here" and I really didn't want to have to hate this book because of him. But, that quickly changed when I started reading more about him and his connection with Emilia. AND GUESS WHAT??? He's now one of my favs!!! But ofc because any man written by Rachel is my automatic book bf.

With that said, let's talk about Wilder& the fact that he's a little shit 😂😂

SPOILER

Take a look at this scene:
“Her stalker has her.”
Hanging up, I take off in a sprint across campus.
Emilia is mine to break and torment. I won’t let this psycho of hers do the job for me.”

I'm sorry but whaatttttt and also, I'm laughing my ass off because Wilder is a total wacko, but I know he'll get his shit together soon 🤭 I better see than man groveling like his life depends on it in book 2!!!! I also really like how we're slowly getting more of his story. I can't wait to find out all his secrets and really see him, because the whole time I was wondering wtf was going on with him. I WANT MORE. I NEED MORE.

And finally, Hawk. 🫶🏼🫶🏼 HOW I LOVE THIS MAN WITH MY WHOLE BEING. The character development in this book IS CHEFS KISS!!! He want from closed off, "fuck everyone" (except for his like 5 friends& 2 family members ofc) to "I'm open to love" and I love it. I really didn't think he'd be the first to cave, I thought he'd be closed off until the last book w his grumpy ass, but I like that he didn't let what happened in their past keep affecting their future. He sure as fuck surprised me.

SPOILERS

I just can't help myself I have to share quote with the world, because it's going to be all I think about for the rest of the week. Month. Year. 🫀

“I’m saying, yes, I want you to be mine. Mine to date. Mine to fuck. Mine to protect and hold and comfort. I’m saying I’m done holding back and pushing you away. I want to be able to wrap my arms around you when you’re upset. I want to drink wine and talk shit with you until you pass out.”

UGHHH that is so freaking cute I want a Hawk of my own!!!!

Oh and then there was this:

“Do you know what sparrows symbolize?”
“No?”
“They represent pleasure and happiness. They are all about finding joy in the little things in life.”
I frown, unsure how that relates to me. “And I’m your sparrow?”
He kisses the top of my head, pulling me tighter against him as he murmurs. “You’re my sparrow.”

I mean, seriously just take my heart with you. 🥹

But enough of that, this review is ending up just being things I love about this book. Which I do love btw, but I'm also a picky bitch. And this picky bitch, is about to complain about the plot. Why? BECAUSE nothing much came of it!!! The reason why Emilia went into hiding was because of her stalker& but we didn't get much of the stalking until the end. So basically this a slow storyline. I want a more action!!!!! Which I'm really hoping book 2 is full of that, based on the cliffhanger. Maybe just have her kidnapped the whole book? Kidding but also not???

Oh let me not forget to mention that there isn't any group scenes or much smut between the mc's. Which, personally I don't mind. This one is for all my besties who are looking for that. I know, "Pretty Vile" will have ALLLLL the goods. She never disappoints 🫡

This is a dark reverse harem romance. multiple pov's.

tropes:
- best friends brother
- bodyguard
- hate to love
- second chance
- forced proximity
- secret society
- tid bit of fake dating
- grumpy x sunshine-ish
- slow burn

I think one of the best feelings in the bookish world is when you have certain expectations for a book and it actually lives up to them. I feel like this can be especially challenging when it comes to a spin-off series since the reader has likely already met the characters in some capacity and therefore has a vague idea of what they'll be getting. Rachel managed to give me all of the things I wanted, one of my favorites tropes of all time (friends to enemies to lovers), and at the same time ended up completely shocking me with how everything was done. I had been associating specific characters with certain tropes on the list we were given and I got almost all of them wrong, it was quite liberating if I'm being honest! 🤣

I was also shocked that my guesses of how Hawk and Wilder would respond to Emilia coming back ended up being completely opposite and tbh I was here for it! Although I definitely wanted to aggressively shake both of them for quite a while, one of them eventually came around and OMG I would like to order one for myself please! I already adored them coming in but this book just put them near the top of my list for my all-time favorite book boyfriends! Our new man is also up there, they were just so precious and sweet and adorable, I COULD NOT! I can't wait to see how the group comes together as the series continues, because the spice already had me self combusting when there was only one guy involved, I can only imagine how much better it'll get once everyone is finally on the same page and we get some group scenes! 🔥

Side note for readers, I would HIGHLY recommend reading Pacific Prep before picking this series up, you can technically read it without doing so but there are major spoilers for literally every book so be warned. With that being said, seeing that Emilia was still close with Hadley and the rest of the OGs gave me the warm fuzzies and the fact that we got to see little snippets of how they're all doing now was an unexpected yet wonderful treat! Like an extra epilogue, I loved it! 🥰

And finally, that cliffy was obviously cruel but also not what I was expecting! If that is where we're starting then I'm now extra curious to see how the plot progresses! I have a feeling that this is just the beginning and there is going to be a dynamic change with where Rachel plans to take the focus of the story as we go and I for one am both nervous and excited for all of the impending doom I know is coming! Here's to hoping that our queen will move the release date for book two up so we don't have to hang in limbo for too long! 🤞🏻

(Thank you Peachy Keen and the author R.A. Smyth for the eARC in exchange for a spoiler free review)

Please check trigger warnings before reading

I read the first two books of Pacific Prep by this author and then dropped it. When I saw that this book is loosely based off that series, I was curious to see if there were any changes.

The good aspect is that you don’t have to read the prior series before this one because the gist of that series is very briefly mentioned in this book. In that sense, this new series can be classified as a standalone.

I liked the tropes of this book. I did not read about these characters whom I came to know appear in the later books of the Pacific Prep series but their introductions were good enough from this book. The constant edging by the harem to Emilia added onto the tension and the problem that Emilia was facing brought out the protectiveness from the harem. The angst between them was good to read. I wouldn’t classify it as a bully romance though.

I did want the book to be a little shorter because every time I thought there were going to be more depth plot wise it turned out to be descriptions or telling from another POV. So there was a lack in terms of the plot development, at least to me.

Otherwise, it was a good start to the series.

Em’s Story

This is Em, Hawk, and Wilder’s story. We met them in Pac Prep. Emilia is Had’s best friend, Hawk is her brother, and Wilder was her “fiancé”. I’m so happy to be reading their story. I couldn’t get enough of them when I was reading Hadley and her guys story. What was that ending?!? I can’t wait to dive back in during the second book and find out who the stalker is.

This book was almost painful to read. Not because of poor character building or anything wrong the author did. No RA did it right. Wilder made it so painful. I loved his character in PP 3 and 4, his bond with Hadley and his blossoming friendships with her guys and brother. What was painful was to see his POV of his pain and broken heart. Wilder has always been a character with demons and secrets. Those plus the arrival of Em back in his life manifests itself as a a hatred toward her. He hates her for throwing him away (or what he thinks is her doing so but it just her doing what she thought was best for herself and future), for being the only thing that chases his darkness away.

I loved Hawk in this one, a huge contrast to how I felt about him in PP 1. He knows it’s not Em fault that she left, he doesn’t blame her, or necessary want her there until he reflects that he cared more than what he thought of the situation at PP. I loved seeing him open up and have feelings!

I would have liked to see Kai get his own POV chapter in the book sooner, bc it’s obvious he will become a part of the harem a few chapters in. The way he makes Emilia feel safe is something she desperately needs and I’m anxious to see what his past is about and how he reacts to her (spoiler alert) being taken at the end of the book.

Hadley and her men make appearances or mentioning of and I’m so happy! It was nice to see what their future held!

This is such a great start to an amazing new series! It was full of raw emotions - fear, anger, and what drives them! Congratulations RA and my hats off to you!

I have been impatiently waiting to read Emilia, Wilder, and Hawk’s story ever since RA Smyth teased us with their novella Blurred Lines and told us they would be getting their own series. It was worth the wait! Holy crap, that was intense, and I loved every minute.

The three have been floundering since that fateful day Emilia decided to take the summer tour with the band over a perfect vacation with Wilder and Hawk. It’s been over four years since she broke something in Wilder when she left to pursue her dreams, checking off the boxes on her list to success. Her return to Ridgeway at the threat of a stalker leaves her at the mercy of Hawk and Wilder - Wilder, who needs to punisher her, to break her for breaking him, and Hawk, who is angry that she left him to clean up the pieces she left behind.

There is so much sexual tension in this book. Their bodies cannot deny the attraction that initially brought them all together, but that only fuels the anger and confusion festering below. Wilder’s punishments run in the realm of degradation and s3xual acts, and he takes the crown in edging.

While this is a new series and could be read alone, I feel it is best enjoyed after reading the Pacific Prep series or, at a minimum, the novella Blurred Lines. The novella gives you Emilia, Wilder, and Hawk’s backstories.

We end this book on a cliffhanger. I really hope Rachel is holed up in her writing cave working on the next one because I need it now!

You fell in love with these characters during Pacific Prep but now we get MORE and I am ready on the edge of my seat. Emilia is thrown back in their world with a bang and Hawk and Wilder couldn't be more unprepared. I devoured their twisted interactions and the mystery behind who's ALSO obsessed with Emilia. Kai was a lovely new character and I'm rooting for these three men to get their emotions under control and take ownership of Emilia. This story was so addictive and I can't get enough of the way the book keeps your attention while making you want more of the characters. I would not be able to forget about this storyline and need the next part like right now. I'm so excited about this series.

**ARC Review**

RA Smyth has done it again! I have been patiently waiting on this series since it was announced, and it did not disappoint! I am obsessed with Wilder, even though I wanted to strangle him most of the book. Then again I love him in Pacific Prep too.

I love that the characters from PP have made their way into this story as well. I was on the edge of my seat almost the whole time I read this book. The tension between the group is perfect. That cliffy that we were left with was amazing as well. I cannot wait to read the next book. It's easy to see why Rachel is one of my top favorite authors. She knows how to write a dang book.

What an amazing beginning to this part of the story. I loved Wilder and Hawke from the Pacific Prep series. And now having their own story in The Ruthless Boys of Ridgeway series. And now their part of the story being told and getting even more in depth with their characters is awesome. Emilia was such a huge part of Pacific Prep but we didn't get too in depth with her character so having her, Hawke and Wilder back together is AWESOME!

I love how intense this story started off with... And all the sexual tension throughout. The heat factor was turned up for sure. I liked both Hawke and Wilder in the original story, but I am loving them both more in this one! I can't wait for book 2. This left off on such a cliffhanger... it left me reeling for sure. Be ready for a "Wilder" ride with this series. LOL

After reading Blurred Lines I was anxiously awaiting Pretty Spiteful and R.A. Smyth did not disappoint! This book starts with a bang and the momentum continues throughout. This was a wild ride and the cliffhanger oof it was a doozy!

There was so much suspense, mystery, history and tension I was hooked from the first page. I read this in one sitting and I need book 2 now!

Note: You do not have to read the Pacific Prep series before reading this one, but I highly highly recommend it!

Loved it

I loved the book. I would just recommend you put a note in the Pacific PAC or whatever series so ppl can find this better. I looked when I finished that series for more of your work and it never pointed me to this series. Anyway, I love Emilia’s story as much as Hadleys. Going to read the second one. 2 thumbs up

Did I accidentally binge this entire book in a day? Maybe. But it was an accident. I did try to put it down but I just had to know what was going to happen next. So here’s my recommendation for you: do not start reading this before bed or if you have important things to do, they aren’t going to happen.

You don’t have to read the Pacific Prep series or the novella before this book, but I would highly recommend reading the novella. Completely worth it and gives you more insight into these characters (plus some spice).

I was cheering for these characters throughout Pacific Prep and the novella was just… it’s what I needed but the ending did hurt. Seeing the next phase of their lives, what they have been doing since the novella and how they interact after the years has been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster. I am loving the ride, but I’m not sure how much longer my heart can hold on for. I need this HEA.

Highly recommend this series! Mystery, suspense, tension, romance and you will be on the edge of your seat throughout.

im so surprised by hawk i didn’t think i would like him as much as i do?! i didn’t care for him in the last series but i really like him in this one ?? i guess he had to step up since wilder is acting up rn 🙄
kai is ok i guess he didn’t do much for me this book and i don’t like men who are caught up in their exes??? idk maybe he’ll grow on me

I definitely did not know what to expect from Emilia, Hawke and Wilder after loving them all in the Pacific Prep series and in their novella, Blurred Lines. There is so much history between these three that are both good and painful which is what this book really was all about. Emilia finds herself in a tight spot with her stalker coming for her and sending her crazy things to show his love. Hadley of course swoops in to whisk her away to a safe location and kind of stirs the pot by having her stay with Hawk and Wilder.

The animosity and tension between these three is thick and that is and understatement. Hawk is his usual hard self that we knew from Pacific Prep. He alternates between being harsh and then being sweet and kind throughout the whole book. His confusion over his feelings was the perfect path for him and I love when he gets all gooey for a little bit and lets the past be in the past.

Wilder is a whole over story and is just downright awful to her in so many ways and it was sometimes really hard to read when he focuses on punishing Em. I really didn't expect that level of hatred from Wilder since he was the goofy psycho of the bunch when we previously met him. So much of him has changed and I'm not sure how I feel about it and I really don't like the secret society stuff he has going on. I really hope that he can come around before its too late and he destroys everything good there is in his life (or the good that could be in his life).

Kai is new to the group but has history with Hawk and Hadley. I adore the connection that he develops with Em as they work together to ID her stalker. We don't learn much about Kai other than his work and that he has some kind of trauma from his past that makes him so passionate about his work for Hawk's security company. I loved his possessiveness in the book over Em at times as well as his firm yet tender moments with her like on that hike.

That cliffhanger..... I mean come on?!?!? I absolutely loved the Pacific Prep series and I have a sneaking suspicion that I am going to love this series just as much. This is a MUST READ!

The tension and angst with this book!!!!

Ok, so I went into this book expecting to be a little lost. I have not read Pacific Prep yet. Not because I don't want to, because I definitely want to. I just haven't gotten around to it yet. However, aside from not knowing the background of Hadley and her men, I totally felt like this book was written perfectly and anything I was unfamiliar with, was explained! Meaning - while I still think having read Pacific Prep before this is a good idea... if you're like me and just can't wait - you will be fine diving headfirst into Emilia's story!
*****
Right away we are sucked into Emilia's life. When she arrives home and a mysterious package lay on her doorstep, she doesn't think much of it! Only - when she opens it and a human body part stares back at her, does she realize the depth of the situation. After she is whisked away with her handsome neighbor, does she realize one of her best friends has been watching over her for a long while.

Being back in Hawk and Wilder's presence does something to Emilia. It brings up the long past, she cowers with regrets. And the look they give her only solidifies the hatred they feel for her now. Now hiding from her stalker, Hawk, Wilder and Kai are on task to making sure she stays safe until the threat is handled.

The more time on this wild ride in hiding, Emilia realizes she hasn't been living. She's just been a 'passenger in her own life' getting by. Marking the boxes off as her life continues on. Realizing this, her past only grows with more regrets.

Bring in the unsettled tension with the guys and Emilia is finished. The tension, the angst and my oh my.....did I mention the tension between them all is scorching and unfinished!

"...The flame that threatens to burn me if I get too close. And I'm the nuke that threatens to tear him apart. Together, we're explosive. Volatile. Cataclysmic."

Secrets are kept and past's are hidden. I need to know how the Kings conclave will play out with Wilder and Kai's history sounds like it could be the deal breaker possibly for them both. When we get to the ending, which comes too fast, the line is drawn, and Emilia finally realizes what matters most to her.

"I made the mistake once of turning my back on this feeling, and I lived to regret it. I won't make the same mistake twice."

This book is EVERYTHING! I loved it and need to know what's happening next! These characters are fire, and I loved their backgrounds, even the fact, that we don't fully know everything about them! I am genuinely looking forward to book two and can't wait for more!

"I'm a starving man, Emilia, and all I want to eat is you."

*Overall 5/5
*Heat? 4/5
*Med/Slow Burn - Tension is fast!!!!
*Multiple first person POV
*Ends on cliffhanger

AMAZING! 5 Stars easily!

Whilst reading Pacific Prep (which is amazing and I highly recommend), I loved the friendship between Hadley and Emilia and needed Emilia’s story with a vengeance. Reading Blurred Lines (a Novella set during the timeframe of Pacific Prep) I never could have imagined that Emilia’s story would start off the way it has done. My mind is frazzled from a whole lot of intrigue that’s sent my thoughts spinning with lots and lots of theories. The cliffhanger that’s got me second thinking absolutely everything making me already want to reread this book to see if I missed clues.
This book is phenomenal, the author is extremely talented and has become one of my go to, knowing that each storyline is so completely original and unique, that it will grip all of you. All of your thoughts and emotions and take you on an emotional rollercoaster that you never want to get off. Pretty Spiteful has had my heart pulled in so many directions, I’ve loved seeing old faces and getting to know some new ones. Can’t wait for the next book and to see how this series goes, I’m ready for the journey this series will undoubtedly take me on.
Phenomenal!

More Please 😳! Holy hell this was a amazing book. Hawk is still my favorite but Kai is so yum an Wilder he needs a kick in his butt but I love him also. Emilia is a great character in this book she was awesome in Pacific Prep as well I’m glad they get there own series now. Wilder has some funny lines in the book but you have to expect that I mean it’s wilder after all. He’s also cruel sometimes as well but he’s still holding a grudge I guess. It’s great that you don’t have to wait long for the action/drama to start. The stalker I still have absolutely no idea who it could be an it’s driving me nuts in a good way though.

Even though this is a spinoff of Pacific Prep for Wilder Hawk an Emilia you don’t have to read anything before it. You will not be lost because there are flash backs in the book to fill in missing pieces of things that happened. Pacific Prep is mostly Hadley’s story and her guys. The Novella is Hawk Wilder an Emilia though but it’s better to read Pacific Prep then the novella if you’re going to go back an read the series but you don’t have to to be able to read this series.

Holy crap this was good

This is one of those books that are gonna have you hooked from the beginning. I couldn't stop reading. This book had everything you could possibly want like stalkers, second chance, enemies to lovers, bodyguard, why choose, forced proximity etc IT HAS IT ALL and its very well written.

So from the blurb we already know she has a stalker so I don't want to get into that cause I don't want to spoil. NOW the men oh my god🥰 love them.

The chemistry Emilia had with all 3 of them was insane. I liked how she has a completely different relationship with all of them. With Kai it was more of a slow burn, he was her bodyguard and they slowly started to like each other. With Hawke it was more intense cause they did have a past together.

Now Wilder, this man annoyed me the entire book. So Emilia broke his heart back in high school and now he's treating her like crap. I know he had he own demons to fight and her being back in his life didn't help. They are the real definition of enemies to lovers like this man hated her guts😭 but weirdly enough he still made me root for him.

Besides the romance the plot itself was well written which made me enjoy the story even more. It did end in a cliffhanger and I can't wait to read the next book!!

2.5🌶

Tropes:
▫ Second Chance
▫ Why Choose?
▫ Friends to enemies to lovers
▫ Stalker
▫ Forced Proximity

💬 Thoughts:

Although this is a new series we first meet, Emelia, Hawk and Wilder in R.A Smyths Pacific Prep series so I would recommend reading that first, but it’s not essential as enough back story is given in this book. However, read Pacific Prep because it is amazing 😅. Honestly all of Rachels books are!

4 years after leaving Pacific Prep, Emilia finally has the life and job she gave up everything to get. That is until she comes home and finds a gift waiting to her from a stalker. She is taken to live with Hawk and Wilder for protection, along with Kai an ex-military bodyguard who has been keeping an eye on her. Hawk and Wilder aren’t happy to see her, especially Wilder and they are making her pay for leaving the way she did 4 years ago.

After finishing Pacific Prep I needed more of Emelia, Hawk and Wilder and this book was everything I wanted. I am so invested in the story and their relationships. Kai is a very welcomed addition to the three of them and I am dying for him and Wilders back story's that we are only teased with so far! After the cliff-hanger I need book 2 like yesterday 😂.

This was my first foray into R.A. Smyth's world, and although most of the characters appeared in a previous series, I could enjoy the story without feeling like I was missing key things.
The story starts out with Emilia realizing she has a stalker, and being whisked away by Kai, her undercover bodyguard, to stay with 2 ex-flames. Hawk and Wilder hold a grudge against Emilia for the way she ended their entanglement over 4 years ago. There is definitely a bit of animosity and tension between these three, along with hardcore lust. I really enjoyed this book! The character development and individuality of our MCs were top-notch. I’m invested in their HEA! I adored Kai! He is the ultimate protector, and I am looking forward to his feelings growing and showing in the next installment. Hawk really grew on me! He went from uncaring asshole to affectionate asshole😘. Wilder is…an interesting character for sure. It’s apparent that he has some serious demons from his past, and he doesn't seem to want to examine why he’s treating Emilia like scum. He needs to get over himself! Or listen to her! Sheesh, I got worked up reading his POV.
The book ends on a cliffy, but I’m pretty sure I know who the stalker is 🧐. I definitely want to read the next book!

Phenomenal start to a brand new series.
OMG , i can't believe what I have just devoured.
I loved Em , Hawk, and Wilder in the blurred lines novella when they were younger.
This book is set four years after, and wow, a lot as changed for all three of them.
I've got to say again that i love the guys, and i can't wait to see how their relationships progress throughout the rest of this series.
Once again , this author pulled me into this incredible universe, and I'm loving every second.
I am desperately waiting for the next book
I need to know what's happening with how this book ended.
I would definitely recommend this five-star read.
