Rose's Duet #1

King of My Heart

Rate this book
Rose

I’ve had enough trouble to last me a lifetime. And yet, it doesn’t stop fate from trying to screw me over and over again.

I had barely tasted the freedom of having put my abusive foster dad away when I got kidnapped by his rivals.
I was able to think about a lot of things during the two years I disappeared. What is important in life? What matters to me? What did I take for granted?

I’m sure our town of Stoneview has never been more peaceful than without me and all the troubles I brought along.

Tough. I’m back now. Everyone thinks I’m going to be meek, controlled, tamed. Don’t they know me? Fighting is all I have ever done. Fury is all I know.

I’ve got two things on my mind. Take back the girl I’ve always loved. Get revenge on my childhood best friend for his betrayal.

I wasn’t prepared for the fact that Rachel is now engaged to a man who doesn’t deserve her. Or that Sam was already plotting a revenge of his own.

She wants to make me her dirty secret and he wants to use me to find the men who took me.

But they should know how stubborn I am. They should know what I want, I get. Their addiction to me only means I own them. Their twisted games only mean I can’t trust them.

But mainly? They should never trust me.

This is a dark, polyamorous, LGBTQIA+ romance and is for 18+ readers only. It contains MM, MF, FF, and MMFF scenes as well as scenes some readers may find triggering. Please, heed the author’s warning in the book.

This book is approximately 105,000 words and is the first part of a duet. King of My heart it is in the Stoneview world but can be read separately from the Stoneview Stories Trilogy, although it may contain spoilers from the other books. It is advised, though not necessary, to read the novella prequel, Queen of Broken Hearts prior to this book.

Rose, just graduated and about to start her life with her one true love, is kidnapped by rival crime family to her now incarcerated abusive foster father. After almost two years, she's now back to her family, Rachel, her steady love, and Sam, her former childhood love interest whom she betrayed.
(Or who betrayed her?) This angst-filled, emotional, and complex story. It also has a lot of spice.

Rose was such a complex character; in fact, many of the character were so multi-dimensional that they came across alive across the pages, their personalities so vivid. Sam is terrifyingly hot, bad, but has unaddressed feelings for Rose. Both he and Rose are a toxic mix, whether for their individual partners or their interconnected relationship. I loved Sam's Dom behavior, his silence that meant more than words, as well as his love for his boyfriend, Lik. Getting into his head felt both disconcerting and stirring. Rose and Rachel's relationship was verse, each giving and dominating according to the other's need. Rachel had a quiet strength, so strong in her unending love for a broken Rose. Interesting, all the main characters demonstrated contrasting personalities, Dom / sub. The interplay between Rose and Sam, though, was the most compelling. I was always on edge as to what would happen next.

Some great diversity, once again, in this world, I loved the front and center portrayal people of color, their familial settings, as well as the positive depiction of polyamory. Best parts of book besides character development were the crime story, the quest for Volkov, and the evolving love stories.

Being emotionally heavy and slow burn, at times I found myself wanting to advance the pace. This story was more plot driven with great character development than romance, even if the underlying attraction was present, particularly with their current partners. Hopefully the pace of the plot is more progressive in book 2.

I couldn’t wait to be back in Stoneview, I missed all these characters so much!

King of my Heart is dark poly/rh romance and first book in Rose’s duet.
While this can be read as a standalone I definitely recommend you read Jake and Jamie’s trilogy first to get even more background about this world and its amazing characters.

I usually don’t read poly too often because I can’t help but always have a favorite. And yes I had a favorite here at first as well, but I also couldn’t help but fall in love with others as the story went on. The author’s writing just make it impossible not to fall for all her characters. They are messy and toxic, but they are also raw and real and I wouldn’t want it any other way. I’m just so invested in this whole world!

The story had me hooked from the prologue and I was constantly at the edge of my seat, dying to find out what will happen next. The writting and storytelling flowed so well I practically devoured this book. And of course my mind is spinning from all kinds of theories after that dreaded cliffhanger. Can’t wait for the next book!

I didn't realize there was a short prequel story to be read before this, and I think I would have liked the book better if I had gone back and read that. But overall this wasn't bad at all! Definitely toxic as hell, and i felt like some relationships were just there, but without any emotional connection. Especially with Rachel. But I loved Rose's relationship with Sam, and felt that it was the most healthy and authentic relationship out of everyone else, and I'm excited to know how they move forward.

This book definitely hooked me from the beginning, but somewhere around the middle it started to lose steam. Some conversations really weren't needed, and I think if the was condensed a bit more, it would be better in the long run. That being said, I'm still looking forward to the next book!

**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions **

This book had me hooked from page 1 and I’m not surprised. Lola is an amazing author and all her books pull you right in and consume you.

Rose white has been through it all throughout her life. It’s hard to read parts of what she goes through but it makes me so damn happy that she’s such a badass strong female character. She doesn’t take shit from anyone and leaves everyone around her desiring her, both men and women.
Rose is supposed to run away with her girlfriend and live happily ever after with her but she ends up being kidnapped and held for 16 months by the Volkov brothers. When she returns she finds out Rachel got engaged to Conor, the man Rachel’s parents are pushing her to marry.
Sam is Rachel’s childhood protector. He was always there for her when things happened with Matteo, her foster father, but now he’s out for revenge on her. He concocts a plan to use her to find the Volkov brothers so he can kill them.
Lik is sams boyfriend who has never been attracted to women but Rose has him taking second glances.

Don’t talk to me about that cliffhanger because I was prepared and have the next book ready to read!
I think it’s obvious but check the trigger warnings before reading. This is a dark romance after all.

This book. THIS BOOK. The tension. The anger. The revenge. The lies. The secrets. The TENSION. The power shifts & control. Four players. Four hearts. One obsession.

If there was ever a a book that perfectly plotted a game of wills, it’s this one.

You know those addictive books well this is another one of them
Rose is a super badass character reminds me of one of my favorites Roxy from Den of Vipers
This book is a perfect blend of plot and spice what I love most about books is this
Represents the characters well as the more focused Rose
I liked them all but she was my favorite of them all.
It got a little dragged out in the middle of the book but I didn't get tired of it, I just loved reading more and more of it
I was attracted to him when I read Blurb(synopsis) for the first time, this is the first book I've read by Lola King and oh my god I haven't met her before
The perfection of writing to make us feel in the place of the book are few authors who do it with this perfection
I can only say that I'm looking forward to more

The Stoneview series was a bully romance and I loved that trilogy. And I would like to add here that I have no triggers as a reader but this book fucking triggered me. Triggered my annoyance.

The first half of Rose's duet was a disappointing shit show.
It could have gone in such an excellent direction but the author gave us unhinged/irritating af power dynamics. I couldn't get past the bile rising in my throat to even enjoy the smut.

The scene involving the four characters was so fucking cringe. It was abusive as all hell. This is a girl with so much trauma in her life, part of it fresh like yesterday and these people who supposedly love her are abusing her. As Sam said, it was "revenge". Motherfucker, revenge for what? You created the clusterfuck by kissing her not the other way around.

I can't wrap my head around how this author, who has inserted a few instances throughout the book to put forth her views on LGBTQIA+, racism, and sexual stigma could be so careless with the shitty portrayal of the toxic af love Sam has for Rose, or what Rachel ended up doing to Rose, or showing Rose being abused but finding absolution(?) or some non-existent meaning in it.

A total failure for me.

Relationships:
Rose/Sam is the only relationship with an emotional connection (although Sam is an irritating fuck; more on that below). Both Sam/Lik & Rose/Rachel seem to be purely sexual and are more about possession than anything even an inch deeper. As if, since Rose and Sam couldn't have each other they got possessive over two people they think of as possessions and believe themselves to be in love.
Also, since we get everyone's POV in this book, Rose and Sam's differentiation of love for Rachel and Lik, respectively is described as possessions only (all the "mine"s you can imagine in their inner thoughts and that they are the ones they chose yada yada) but for each other its that they can't help but love each other.

The thought process in this book and with these characters escapes me.

Characters:
Rose: She was so impressive in the Stoneview series and I was so looking forward to her and Sam's dynamic which is why I was eagerly waiting for this duet. A strong character despite all the shit she was dealt. Her character in this one is all talk, no show. She's undermined by other main characters at every turn. She's now a "natural submissive". Lol. Before this book, she always came off as the most effortlessly dominating character in the Stoneview series. Was this angle randomly inserted in the book to make Rachel have a personality? Or to make Lik a more interesting personality by giving him another direction and an excuse for a different type of interest in Rose? Or to explore the author's own sexual fantasies? Idk. This mystery escapes me as well.

Rachel: No personality. Needs one. Random sadist out for Rose's blood. Apparently, Sam's new pupil.

Lik: He was interesting. Was a fun character until he also wanted to dominate Rose and was just a puppet pet for Sam boy. I lost all faith in this one after that four-person abuse scene. Weak character now.

Sam: Asshole extraordinaire (and not in a sexy way). Where do I start? Okay. Boy was unhinged (again, not in a sexy way). He was apparently the master of this universe. He was dominating anybody and everybody. Takes zero responsibility for his nonsense but doles out "punishment" to everyone else for the shit he stirred. Boy is God, here. I had such hopes of a grump with an intense love for Rose and all that jazz. But he fell flat on every account. The character's "killer" instinct is shown in a magical manner. He appears magically, he gets behind everyone silently, he captures everyone, he can get in anywhere, etc etc. When is power too much? When the character has no other redeeming qualities. Then too much fictional power in a fictional setting unsettles you (read: bores you).

The only exciting thing happened in the last line of the book. The suspense of that is pretty obvious but I look forward to reading about that if it can loan some old personality back to Rose and change the whole power dynamic for the better. I want Nate now. But only if he's not handled this poorly.

♨️ Angst
♨️ HOT FREAKING 🔥

📢 𝑪𝑨𝑼𝑻𝑰𝑶𝑵𝑨𝑹𝒀 𝑪𝑨𝑳𝑳-𝑶𝑼𝑻: 📢

Do read authors TWs before starting this one as it deals with some heavy stuff where kinky times are concerned and might not be everyone's cup of tea. But for Dark Polyamorous romance lovers this one's going to be a definite treat. 😉

𝑴𝒀 𝑹𝑬𝑽𝑰𝑬𝑾: 📝

After reading Queen of Broken Hearts novella I was running to start this one. Even though Rose and Rachel made me go crazy in that one, yet I was wanting to see what would happen next. Would Rachel's one sided love reach fruition especially when the object of her desire is a Playgirl to the extreme.

So I have to say when I started this one, I was not ready for the intensity and rollercoaster ride this one took me on.
I mean FREAKING SHT. There was just so much going on.

Rose is back after two years when she was kidnapped on the very day that she was to run away with Rachel.
Now Rose is back and nobody knows why she was taken or what happened or how did she ever escape.

There are secrets piling up, sure but for Rose, the people that were always the centre of her world have their lives changed as even though, Rose is the same girl who can sleep with anyone if she likes them at one glance, yet she's also the same possessive one who will do anything for Rachel.

The biggest shocker comes when Sam traps her and makes her be complaint to his plan to find the Volkov brothers, whose whereabouts no body can find out.
Why is Sam doing this and especially when he has a man of his own, Lik, yet why does Rose hate him and yearn for him at the same time?!

Lik was hot and his 🔥times with Sam had me 🥵 for the way they are with each other. Even though all characters have their own flaws yet Sam has to be my least favourite one. I just didn't like the way he would treat others.
Lik was a sweetie and a easy going cool dude.
I have to say though, the buildup to the attraction he feels for Rose was so beyond hot as he's a man who's never found a woman attractive.🌶️🌶️

Rose is a mad house and a maniac obsessed over Rachel but what I loved was the fact that now she's getting a taste of her own medicine with not getting Rachel's attention and having to be her dirty secret when she treated Rachel the same way in the past.

Yet I really can't blame Rose for the way she is especially after reading about her past I had tears in my eyes and wanting to save the little girl in the past for when she was wronged.
Rose definitely made me feel emotional for her and I might not agree with her actions at times yet that girl is a softie somewhere inside.

Rachel, man, poor thing. It felt like she's always in some kinda prison one time or another but I can't wait to see her get justice this time for the burden she carries and doesn't have to.

This one has tons of Kinky and outright filthy times loaded with so much spice that I would say read carefully or you might get burned with all the heat. (Kidding, although the spice is freaking hotttt ♨️🔥🥵)

THEN COMES THAT ENDING.😱😱 .... WHAT THE.... I knew that there was something not adding up... BUT THAT... Yep, straight going for the next book. Can't wait to start it after reading this crazy shocking twister. Also, hoping to find more times filled with utmost debauchery and 𝗌𝖾𝗑iness in the next one.😉🌶️

Es un lovers to enemies to lovers especialmente doloroso porque ver escenas como la de (When I leave his office, I run back to my room. Sam is waiting on my bed. I jump in his arms, falling on him, and we both crash against the mattress. He’s sixteen, and his muscles are developing at an unstoppable rate. His big arms crush me against him, and I cry into his chest) justo después de la de la reunión con Lik y Rachel me ha matado.

This is book one in Rose’s Duet. We learn in the Prologue that Rose was kidnapped by the head of the Bratva. She was held captive for two years. Two years where her family and friends searched for her, but inevitably had to go on with their lives. Including the love of her life, Rachel. She comes home to find out that Rachel is engaged and to a man nonetheless. The other love of her life, Sam, plans to use Rachel as a weakness to bend Rose to work for him and lead him to the Wolves so he can complete his last task as a hitman before killing Rose for her betrayal. But what happens when Rose makes everyone become addicted to her without even trying? Including Sam’s boyfriend, Lik. Can Sam really go through with ending her life? Can Rachel stay engaged to someone she has zero feeling for?

Highly recommend this book if you’re looking for -
- FFMM
- BDSM 🌶️
- Touch her and ☠️ (literally… sam doesn’t fuck around)
- Group scenes
- All characters extremely possessive 😮‍💨

I will give this book a 3/5. It was my first poly relationship book though I’ve read multiple reverse harem books and don’t enjoy that genre too much. I like how they all slowly but surely start developing relationships with each other.

Lik’s character is my favorite, discovering how he switches between and dom and sub is interesting to read and I love his bonding relationship with Rose.

I hate Sam however. He just irks me the wrong way and no matter how much he is romanticized, I can’t make myself to like him. He thinks he is protecting rose and was in love with her, but messing with her Trauma was a very low move even for him. He is shown to be the big nightly quite and mysterious person but he is now where near close to it. Just because he rarely speaks makes him feel more like a coward and less like an intelligent person.

Personally, I loved all the other books By Lola and gave her 10/10 but these series is just isn’t for me, but I’m sure people who enjoy poly relationships will enjoy this book as well.

This book was soo good, I just love this author in general cause she knows just the right amount of plot+ romance to add to a book and the only reason it's a 3 is because I know it is about to get better and the next book will probably be a 4. Idk just my guess but we'll see! Also is it just me Or was the character rachel sorta frustrating, like ik she's supposed to have a hard time with her decision of breaking it off with conor, or maybe it's the fact that her actions hurt rose, whose my favorite character btw, which pissed me off but God could she really not ' find herself ' quicker, and her reasoning for not telling rose made no sense but I still loved the story so yea.also maybe it's my expectation but from the previous stoneview series with janie and jake rose seemed so bold and powerfull and i was hoping to see her taking control a lot in this book which didn't happen, but hopefully I'll see more of that in book 2 🤞.

If you're wanting a strong FMC, this is NOT it

Repetitively scrupulous. How many times do we need to know the notes of the FMCs perfume? The extensive inner dialogue had me scrolling through 50% of the book. This duet should be a standalone. Loved the potential, but whoever said the FMC was strong, no. She's extremely weak. Also, it isn't as dark as everyone warns. I'd say it's a step away from Den of Vipers, which to me, is entry level. If you've read 24690, pass on this.

Story line was awesome, I enjoyed the mafia story and the love square and the history there.
Didn’t realise there would be a lot of same gender sex, so that was a little shock to the system and graphic.
Chapter 8 suck ass and made me want to punch a wall while vomiting.
Connor needs to die.

eh might come back to this since it’s MMFF. But it’s just super annoying the author doesn’t actually list out the content warnings anywhere easy to find? The blurb says to check the book. The inside of the book says to check the author’s Goodreads or Instagram for the full list. But I’m not seeing it ANYWHERE. It’s honestly fucking ridiculous.

I’m just mad at this point so I’m seeing it aside.

Ugh. I found this on Tik Tok and thought I’d love it.

A decent plot, which could have been so much more if there was more story than sex… lord. I love a good dark romance but the sex was just too much. So much so that you completely forget this book is suppose to have an actual story.

Will I read the second one? TBD.

after meeting rose in jake and jamie's trilogy, i was so excited to get to her story. and lola delivered!! the power dynamic between all the characters was so intriguing, the plot was fast paced but not rushed, and this one is freaking steamy asf!

and ofc it does leave on a bit of a cliffhanger which makes me so excited to get to book 2!

Masterpiece
A LOT OF SPOILERS.

In my personal opinion if you are going to read King of My Heart you have to read Queen of Broken Hearts because it is the best way to to understand KOMH and understand the feelings of the protagonists Rose and Rachel and also capture a bit of what Sam means in history and a bit of Rose's past and her near future as well, as well as that of Rachel.
The story from the four perspectives Lik, Sam, Rachel and Rose gives it the wonderful touch that I really expected, I'm not going to lie to you I had to leave my morals out of the book to enjoy it 100% And it was worth it.
The frustration, the rush of emotion that this book gave me is unbelievable, I am in awe of the plot and the story and I definitely have my questions about what is going on.Will there be an HEA with all four together or will someone else join the mix?
The book is not for Sensitive people but it is quite good, the ending simply created more doubts in me, more possibilities of something good and I really have faith that in the end they are going to be a family in their own right. But I hope it's not too late so that you notice it and take advantage of it
I'm mad at Sam, Rachel and Lik my perspective got hurt that morning And then telling her that they would be willing for her was unfair to me, first they make her feel that she can belong and then they leave her, then there is manipulation, I hope Viktor does not disappoint me. AND Rose's final paragraph was simply a masterpiece immaturely I know that the three of them will take it badly but she is right in most of what she said. I hope one day they all live in peace and a little love in their own way, that's all I ask for 🥺💟 they deserve a home. Peace and enough love the four of us
Rose's past hurts me a lot, it's horrible to think how she was created for and because of pain, I understand that later she uses it as pleasure and that's excellent, but to think of a girl but to think of a little girl suffering that until years later to understand that she was being trained to be Bianco's wife makes me angry. I appreciate that Rachel and Sam help her embrace her traumas and rise from them, she is so strong.
The fact that to date Sam is concerned about Nate's opinion on him dating Rose intrigues me, I want to know more about that concern.
Honorable mention to I hope Conor gets a piano falling on his head and gets crushed to death please I hate it so much I just can't stand it. Rachel has to get back at him, she has to

I have a feeling that Rachel and Sam are going to be very close, partners in crime, but they both love their partners strongly individually, Sam adores Lik, loves him very much,In the same way he loves Rose and Rachel deeply loves Rose and surely they will combine that to make it work for everyone I just hope that after Viktor's arrival the three of them don't come together again to hurt Rose more. I understand that together they will be like gasoline and fire and it is beautiful But I'd hate to see them form a bond the three of them and not really add Rose like she deserves it obviously she loves the attention I know But she also wants stability and love and learning to trust and if they do that she will never be okay.I really hope that love is much much stronger than pride. Everyone needs each other to be happy.
Plssssssss @lolitaking Give them a home and family full of love and pleasure that everyone needs

Issues that concern me:
-Rose's pregnancy with Lik since that night...there was no care and I hope if so, everyone loves the baby if it happens.
-That the people she loves the most hurt Rose again, because as she told Jake one of these days she is going to explode with everything that has been stored in her head.
-That Viktor is bad, hahahaha, I pray because he loved her honestly, but if not, that he at least take care of her a little.
-I need a HEA one for the four, please
-Aleksei worries me, I'm not going to lie and so does Rose's older brother... God, if they're bad, I hope they're just as screwed as Conor

Ok, I already threw up everything I had to say.
If you made it this far... enjoy the book as much as I do 💜My meter of good books is when this happens, when my head thinks that so much can or cannot happen. This story is simply addictive and magnificent.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

Rose
I've had enough trouble to last me a lifetime. And yet, it doesn't stop fate from trying to screw me over and over again. I had barely tasted the freedom of having put my abusive foster dad away when I got kidnapped by his rivals. I was able to think about a lot of things during the two years I disappeared. What is important in life? What matters to me? What did I take for granted? I'm sure our town of Stoneview has never been more peaceful than without me and all the troubles I brought along. Tough. I'm back now. Everyone thinks I'm going to be meek, controlled, tamed. Don't they know me? Fighting is all I have ever done. Fury is all I know. I've got two things on my mind. Take back the girl I have always loved. Get revenge on my childhood best friend for his betrayal. I wasn't prepared for the face that Rachel is now engaged to a man who doesn't deserve her. Or that Sam was already plotting a revenge of his own. She wants to make me her dirty little secret and he wants to use me to find the men who took me. But they should know how stubborn I am. They should know what I want, I get. Their addiction to me only means I own them. Their twisted games only mean I can't trust them. But mainly? They should never trust me.

This is a dark story that comes with all kinds of warning and has all kinds of things between all kinds of people going on. You will want to heed the warnings in the beginning of the book. It will contain triggers for some readers. There is also a prequel to this story that you will want to read. Queen of Broken Heart. You don't have to but I did and I felt like I knew what I was getting myself into better because of it. It really helps you to understand the feelings of Rose and Rachel and you get some of Rose's past and kind of what is to come in her future right along with Rachel. I don't even know that I know how to review this book. The first half of this book really flies by and you will be hooked like I was but I really struggled and it seemed like the story got a little sluggish at the halfway point. There is so much talking going on that, good grief it about drove me nuts. Was all of that really necessary and I guess my best way to describe it is very wordy. Then we pick back up again and things are like they were in the beginning of the book. When I was loving the story I was really loving it. When I was all oh my gosh about it I really struggled with it. If you love strong female character that really speak there mind then you are going to love Rose. My favorite connection was between Sam and Rose. They felt like the only two who really were connected for a real reason and had this most amazing connection really and when compared to the other connections this is the one that really felt like it made this a romance book. This is the first book in a duet too so be prepared for that.

Rose, raised to live the life as part of Cosa Nostra.
Abused, tortured and trained to be a weapon and to be
the wife of her abusive foster father. Her escape from
her past is within the author's Stoneview Stories Trilogy
which focused primarily on her twin, Jake and his HEA
to Jamie.

From broken freedom only to be kidnapped by the
Bratva for revenge... For sixteen months..... Those
sixteen months are not delved into during this
installment. It's teased, hopefully flashback chapters
will be written into the next installment 🙌💕

Rachel Harris, Rose's girlfriend, their beginnings start
in the prequel, Queen of Broken Hearts. Now? Yeah,
her life became black and blue during the sixteen
months.
Sam, her first true love and her older brother's best
friend. Now on a rampage to not only hunt and kill the
Volkov brothers, but Rose as well.
Malik, not going to say how he is entwined into this, but
needless to say, he shifts between the Sub and Dom
personas fluidly.

Lots of back and forth POVs with each character. The
author has written a rich world that offers multiple
layers that kept me grasping my kindle, waiting
expectantly for Viktor. Only to have me gaping at
Rose's thoughts towards the end.

(Thank you Peachy Keen and the author Lola King for the eARC in exchange for a spoiler free review)

3.5⭐

Please read trigger warnings before reading this book!

This is my first book from Lola. I did not read the Stoneview Stories series or the prequel novella Queen of Broken Hearts prior to this, I was still able to read this without getting confused so this book is indeed a standalone.

The blurb attracted me, I don’t usually read books that has a heavy focus on the past or complicated relationships but this book really did well in pulling me in for the first half. I couldn’t put the book down.

At the 50% mark, the story started getting a little draggy so I ended up skim reading some parts to get through to 70%. There were unnecessary conversations and the plot didn’t seem to move along as quick as the first half. This book is 42 chapters long, some of the chapters could have been cut down since the content were more “fillers”. Plot wise, the development could have been better.

I usually don’t like characters being toxic to one another but it had a great impact in the smut scenes for this book. I started to like Rose the more she spoke up because she was bold and didn’t hold herself back. I didn’t see a connection between her and Rachel because it felt more lust to me, Rachel seemed more like a sub-character to me but this may be because I didn’t read the prequel. The connection between Sam and Lik was explosive but also lacked the same depth. I felt that Rose and Sam had the most genuine connection even though this book has a #whychoose theme. But given their intertwined past, it made sense for them to be with one another. The character development for these four characters were the same throughout, we only saw them shine more in smut scenes than plot wise so I hope to see more of that in the next book.

This book ended in a cliffhanger and I’m excited to see how the next book will be!

Love has no labels

𝑰 𝒂𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈. 𝑰’𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒇 𝒎𝒚 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒇 𝒎𝒚 𝒃𝒐𝒅𝒚, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒇 𝒎𝒚 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕.

This is a MMFF & please check out the TWs.

If you’ve ever read Lola’s books before, you would already have been introduced to Rose. Jake’s twin, the wild party girl who loves to have fun. You will also have been introduced to the other characters, Rach, Sam & Lik.

For me I’ve always wanted more Rose. I sound like all the people within the novel because everyone falls for her beauty. Lola has given us Rose’s story but more. Don’t mistake Rose’s beauty for leading the show. Sam, Rach & Lik make the biggest impact.

𝑰𝒏 𝒅𝒐𝒖𝒃𝒕, 𝒂𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒚 𝒔𝒊𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒕.

Not only has Lola wrote this MMFF where a lot of voices come through, she doesn’t ever slack on the plot, the spice and the drama. It pulls me in, keeps me hooked.

The dynamic between them is just explosive. Its natural without them having to try. It feels right. That being said there’s still a lot they need to work out.

𝒖𝒏𝒔𝒂𝒊𝒅 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆, 𝒖𝒏𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒅 𝒑𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒅 𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔.

Character opinions coming up:

Rose I adore, she’s been through so much & she is so stubborn she just won’t ask for help. She always sacrifices herself. Not going to lie I want to hit her sometimes, but she would no doubt enjoy it.

Rach is hit and miss for me. I loved her in QOBHs her other side and was like yes embrace this. But in this she didn’t hit the mark. She’s more the fragile Rach & I can’t wait to see how she develops.

Sam, my silent predator! I love him. He saved himself at the end of this book by not messing about. ♥️

I LOVE Lik. There I said it. His the right balance of everything. His fun yet knows when to pull that back. His kind but can be firm. His bond with Rose I was just living for.

𝑰’𝒎 𝒈𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏 𝑰 𝒃𝒂𝒓𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒊𝒏 𝒂 𝒅𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝒈𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝑰’𝒎 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝑰 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒘𝒊𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆.

This book is a duet and ends on a cliffhanger..

This book was worth the wait.

For me that was over a year. I fell for Rose the moment she was introduced in Giving In, even though she was only just a side character. I mean one of my first aesthetic reels was of Rose and Rachel. ♥️ OK now that you have a clear picture of how obsessed I am with this character. This is what I thought about King Of My Heart.

First of all, this book is the perfect mixture of plot and spice that makes sense for the relationship development not just for smut sake! None, of it is vanilla so if kink driven sex isn’t your thing….I don’t know what to tell you. 🤷🏼‍♀️ It get’s intense but lord have mercy, it’s some of the best I’ve ever read…the car, the club, the chair (hmm, I see I pattern there).

I was really nervous to see how Lola brought this character dynamic together. I didn’t have much love for Lik at first, because let’s be honest, I wanted to see Rose with Sam. But that soon faded away when the relationship between Rose and Malik started to develop. 🔥🥵🔥 And I guess Sam and Lik are alright too 🙄🤣 Shockingly I think the most intriguing for me was Sam and Rach because of their connection to Rose but also how they play off each other.

I loved the extra backstory we got between Rose and Sam and Sam’s internal monologue made me want to strangle him at times and yell at him to just speak up! The emotional connection between their tattoos had my eyes tearing up.

Rose and Rach are still end game for me. I know this is a why choose, but I just have this pull to them. And Rach blossoming under Sam’s hand is like nothing I’ve read before.

I could go on and on, this book is a rollercoaster, 100% worth the read and the reread! It ends on an huge mic drop cliff hanger and I want book two like yesterday! Lol.
