No Saint

Rate this book
Saint.

Virtuous. Kind. Patient.

These were words never associated with Gabriel Saint.
He was a monster. The devil that haunted the city of Redhill.

And he had found me.

I’d managed to hide for a while from my past, present and future.
But I should have known they’d come looking, after all I had the heir of the city in my arms, and if there is anything I do know about the ruling crime family of this city, it’s that family comes before all else.

When Gabriel comes for me, I fight but know it’s useless, and when he forces me to be his wife, I vow to make his life as miserable as possible.

But there was something about the man. Something I wanted to unravel, pick apart so I could find all the pieces that made him who he was.

What I found was not what I expected.

He wants my heart.

He wants me to his wife in more ways than just that piece of paper that binds us.

And the more time I spend trapped with the mafia boss in his clifftop house, the more pieces of me he steals.

But with this life comes blood and violence, and there was someone determined to make us pay.

No Saint is a standalone dark mafia romance. It contains kidnap and a forced marriage theme which may make some readers uncomfortable.
This book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

This was my first book by this author, but it will not be my last! I was really excited going into this book as a few people were telling me how great it was, and I absolutely agree with them.

We meet Gabriel who is the Don and the definition of a morally grey character. He owns the entire city and has so much blood on his hands. We find out his older brother has died and because of it a few secrets of his brothers is revealed leading to us meeting Amelia who has her own traumatic past to deal with, but she was strong and brave and willing to do anything to protect her own.

This is a slow burn as Amelia wants nothing to do with Gabriel even though he has forced her hand and married her. He falls first and I don't blame him because who would not want her around? She was such a wonderful FMC and I loved her fierceness despite her pain.

The spice was off the charts and I really enjoyed the development of their relationship and how they could no longer stop themselves from the truth of how they felt. I loved when he talked to her in Italian and how he was not scared to admit his feelings.

I was wrong on who the bad guy would be, but I was not off by a lot. There are many twists and turns, and it will leave you on the edge of your seat to find out what is going on and whether or not his older brother is alive?

I'm glad that Ria will be writing about three of the side guy characters we got to meet but honestly I am more interested in Enzo's story than anybody else. The guy is an absolute mystery, and I cannot wait to find out more about why he took that vow of silence!

"As intoxicating as any drug, but twice as addictive. There isn't a single part of you I do not crave."

This was another addition to all the mafia romances out there and it was a good read. I liked the plot and the mystery about finding the person who betrayed Gabriel. Amelia's past came as a whiplash to me because I did not see it coming. The writing was good, you'll definitely be pulled into the story since the first page itself since this is not a typical biy meets girl kind of romance but it's enjoyable nonetheless. Overall if you're looking for a quick, dark and thrilling mafia romance with a single mom and a mob boss hero who is determined to drag them into his world, this is the book for you.

I received an ARC in exchange of an honest review

Note: Some of my goodreads shelves can be spoilers

Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Plot/Storyline: 📖📖📖
Feels: 🦋🦋
Emotional Depth: 💔💔💔
Sexual Tension: ⚡⚡⚡⚡
Romance: 💞💞💞💞
Sensuality: 💋💋💋
Sex Scene Length: 🍑🍑🍑🍑
Steam Scale (Number of Sex Scenes): 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥+
Humor: It’s a pretty heavy book so not much
Perspective: First person with chapters in both hero and heroine’s perspective
Cliffhanger: No
Epilogue: Yes, a touch in future (not far into the future)

Should I read in order?
This is a stand alone (or at least the first story in the series)

Basic plot:
With his brother dead, Gabriel takes his nephew into the folds of the Saint family – he doesn’t plan on taking the mother but once he sets eyes on her, he knows she’s his as well

Give this a try if you want:
- contemporary mafia romance
- Redhill, California setting
- you’re okay with a darker, mafia story line including abduction and forced marriage and plenty of violence and death on page
- artist/fashion designing heroine
- instalove (on behalf of the hero)
- enemies to lovers
- light praise kink
- highter steam – at least 6 full scenes and some light kink

Ages:
- didn’t catch either...would guess late 20s? Possibly early 30s?

First line:
My fingers curl at my side, the only emotion that’ll show on my body.

My thoughts:
I did like a few things about this book. I like darkish romance with kidnapped themes and the hero kidnaps the heroine pretty early in. I liked how in the hero was from the beginning. I enjoyed how dominating and possessive the hero was from the beginning – but also tried to be respectful of her. I appreciated that there was a build up of their relationship over the course of the book and they didn’t dive into everything sexually right away. I think that helped build some tension for me.

But I also struggled with this book. I think it was just a personal thing and maybe I watched 365 Days too recently because that movie just kept playing through my head while reading this. Like any scene that was similar I was seeing the movie and it drove me bonkers (which is obviously a personal problem – sorry everyone! 😆 )

I had a couple issues with the writing – a few things sounded a bit conflicting like about the hero’s mother’s character. I also thought the villain was quite predictable (though I don’t really care about that – I don’t read romance to be shocked and surprised). I wanted their character depths developed a bit more. I loved that the heroine was an artist and fashion lover and wanted a bit more of that. I also could have used more character depth for the hero. I felt by the end I didn’t really know him that well other than he led a cliché mafia life. Some of the scenes just seemed to get a little crazy/gory just for the sake of it. I can’t believe how many people repeatedly broke into this house!

I tried to read the synopsis of Wilde’s books and find one that wasn’t second chance and didn’t have kids and I took a chance on this one and there is a child here 😆 so that lessened by love a bit (again, just personal).

The sex in this one was great though. It was hot and steamy and while I could have used a touch more of the emotional side (especially after the heroine just kind of broke down and capitulated to him), overall I loved it.

So, while this wasn’t a favorite for me, I would try Wilde again!

Pretty cover.

IG made me click 🤦‍♀️ Mention mafia, and it’s dark, of course I’ll try an author I skimmed as a debut, hoping for improvement.

This is not dark. Adding violence does not make it mafia.

Repetitive, told, in desperate need of editing.

The waterfront terminology used regarding commercial shipping began a slew of issues.
Requires considerable research. The Marina mentioned in California is no more than 25 feet deep. Commercial container shipping comes into ports, deep water, with wharves, not marina’s. It’s not a yacht club. I’ve worked in commercial shipping 🙃

Cement shoes as disposal you go straight down. It’s not a slow process, think dropping a brick into water. The whole plot makes little sense, sorry.

Reads like a first draft. Overly familiar theme. Second I’ve skimmed by this author.

This is my first book by this Author, although her books have been sitting on my TBR for far too long. And I am a fool for not getting to her books sooner.

With that being said, I am so glad I jumped on the chance for this ARC. Because wow...I am obssessed! I enjoyed Ria's writing style immensely. She hit all the marks: fantastic/hilarious banter, strong FMC, Strong MMC (I mean he deserves his very own page of me just praising him), the most delicious and erotic spicy scenes I've read in a Mafia book. I honestly will be purchasing this book in any edition she produces and every single edition.

I have read a lot of Mafia books and Gabriel (MMC) whew...

This man was Morally Grey, I really loved how the author did not water him down at all. He was ruthless, sexy as sin, unapologetic, everything you want while reading about a Don. Also, he speaks Italian *swoon*. I find it so sexy when characters speak more than just endearing terms in their native tongue.

"La morte non viene per te oggi, Amelia," I murmur the words...

Now, not only were we blessed with an amazing Mafioso, but Amelia (FMC) stole my heart, broke it and returned it battered yet intact. This woman, my god this woman went through Hell. I loved her from the beginning until the very end. Gabriel gives her a nickname that is truly so fitting. Amelia was one of the biggest badasses I have ever had the pleasure of reading about.

The flow of the story was so smooth; I was captivated by the mystery in the plot. Every single thing in this book held a purpose. Nothing was mentioned to just throw in there and I LOVE when Authors do that. Also, big shoutout to Daddy Enzo....I can not tell you how much I am dying to get more of this man

Ria does an amazing job of listing her TW in the very beginning, but also there is an instance of child endangerment. Just remember, this book is a Dark Romance/Dark Mafia Romance. Read responsibly please, I felt Ria did an amazing job with this book. The only slight, very small thing I have to say was she did overuse the word "saw" a bit too much. Example: "My breath saws chaotically...". But, like I said this is nothing that is a major deal to me. Her writing was completely enjoyable, that yes I noticed this word being favored but it in no way impacted my reading experience! I love this book, I love this Author, and I hope that everyone who picks this up, get's their pre-order in, adds to cart, adds to tbr...just enjoys it as much as I did💀

The book started out strong !!!! Then It took a turn and became awkward and stupid. You know when you watch a horror movie and the actor Is running towards the dark alley where the killer can get to them quicker .. that’s exactly how this book turned out. I was screaming at the characters during some of the scenes. How does this big bag mob boss get finessed by a man who is right under his NOSE! How is this mob boss soooo “bad ass” yet has the worst security in his home and places of business ! Come on!!! It really did start strong and I was hooked but once the stupidity of it happened.. I lost all interest.

This book was literally everything; it became one of my all-time favorites. But please keep in mind that this book is a dark romance with very intense themes.

I don't know how I discovered this book; all I know is that I purchased it last year with the hope of reading it this year. So, I don't know who to thank for it, but thank you anyway!

This is the story of Gabriel (H) and Amelia (h), and their journey. Believe me when I say it was a rollercoaster full of ups and downs.

“You could love me, Amelia.” He finally says. Wait…what? Was that what he had said before?
“If you let go of this hate,” he says, keeping eye contact, “You could love me. I could provide for you.”
“I don’t need you.”
“No.” He agrees.

Writing Style:

This was better than the "Twisted City Duet"; it was enjoyable and simple. I discovered that "Little Bird" was the first book the author published, so I guess it made sense. I loved the progress and the difference between her first book and this one.

Main Characters:

Let's start with our hero Gabriel: one word, 'Perfection.' I loved this man. He was ruthless, dangerous, and the kind you have to stay away from. But with Amelia, he was kind and patient, putting her above everything. Imagine that he went from asking her why she is crying - because he genuinely doesn't understand why people cry - to actually crying over her. He was supportive and wanted to make all her dreams come true.

I stare up at him, “Are you hurt?” I whisper.
He shakes his head as a tear drips off the end of his nose and lands on my lip. My tongue peeks out to taste it. “Then why are you crying?”

Amelia: my girl, my beautiful girl. She's been through a lot, and I sobbed like crazy for her. But even after everything, she remained strong and brave for her son; she was willing to do everything for him, and I admired her!

Plot:

I loved everything about it - the development of the characters and the plot twist at the end. I couldn't put the book down; I was always on edge because I knew something would happen any second. There was enough romance but also a story to keep you reading, and the smut, it was fire, to say the least. However, I was a wreck by the end of the book because of how much I cried.

This story was a combination of everything; even the side characters were amazing, and I can't wait to read their stories. I am so curious about what is hidden behind their facade.

If you are in the mood for an emotional dark romance, with a valiant heroine and an obsessed hero who falls first, then this book is for you.

(Thank you Peachy Keen and the author Ria Wilde for the eARC in exchange for a spoiler free review)

Please check trigger warnings before reading.

Tropes: kidnapping, mafia, forced marriage, forced proximity, single parent, slow burn

I’ve always been on the lookout for captor-captive books and once I read that this would be I immediately signed up for the ARC. Throw in mafia and that is just the perfect recipe.

This was my first book by Ria and I liked the writing style of her - straight to the point. The short chapters really made it easier to concentrate on the book without putting it down.

The plot was developed well enough to continue reading the book. I personally don’t find Gabriel the “morally grey man” almost every dark romance book claims to have but he was mush for Amelia. I like a FMC that’s headstrong and Amelia was that, she didn’t give in just because she should.

The reason why I’m giving it 4 stars is because the plot was predictable. Even though there were plot twists I thought it was clear on who might it be.

Overall a good mafia book in a while, I will check out Ria’s other books!

MY GOODNESS! This book was so fucking good, I knew I was gonna fall in love with Gabriel the moment he became uncontrollably obsessed with Amelia, the love that man had for her is out of this world & don’t even get me started on chapter 43 it did things to my yk what haha. I loved Amelia the sas she had with Gabriel & everyone even with knowing who they were was amazing. I’ll be patiently waiting for Enzo’s story that man stole my heart & he didn’t even say a single word.

“As much as I prefer my hand as your necklace, Amelia, I knew it couldn’t be there forever so this was the next best accessory for the woman who held my whole heart.”

DNF’ing at 7%. I don’t plan to rate the book. Ria seems like a very kind person and I don’t want to bring her ratings down at all. Ultimately, the writing style and lack of editing really distracted me from being able to appreciate this story. Things moved from present to past tense in the same paragraph. Many sentences were too long and ran-on needlessly, and overall, these are things that really distract me from enjoying a book. For those that can see past these things, the book might be really great! I didn’t get far enough to be able to review that aspect of it.

this was a wild intense ride. amelia is an insanely strong character. this book is definitely more of a slower burn but it grew on me. in the end, gabriel was such a softie and thats exactly how I like my men. this also has the "who did this to you" type of scene and i ate it up. i'll definitely check out more of ria's books.

2.75 * I really enjoyed the plot of this book ,but there are so many useless fillers, inconsistencies. Ie.. why would there be hitmen to take them ( Amelia and Lincoln )out ? The boy, Talon was paid to find the cctv footage and info about people, the entire chapter was his back story , how much of a genius he was, then nada, until the very end (which was useless). What was the point of that ? Amelia recognizes the voices but does not say anything? The guy they captured looked at Alex and he sees that , but does nothing? All these signs and Gabrielle was so pathetic he never fighters anything out. Both characters are so dumb , it really dulled the story. How many times do we need to hear him say he failed? Do something about it . There were clues and you were so dumb to acknowledge. Amelia was worst. It got to the point where I was like end this already. This stupidity is grating .,,

Best Suspense Mystery Book!

No Saint was my first time read of the author and I.LOVED.IT.SOO.MUCH!! Especially since it has all of my favourite tropes in just one story. Amelia's past was hard and heartbreaking. Gabriel's morally grey MMC who Don and owns a city and has blood on his hands. The story has quite surprising turns of events out of nowhere and oh, the mystery. I was intrigued from the first page till the last page. The story has me guessing and kept on the edge of seat the whole time. The actions, secrets, plot twists and turns, spice are amazing and perfect. The ending I never saw coming!! I'll definitely be reading Ria's upcoming books especially Atlas and Enzo.

— 3.5 stars!

I wanted to start this year with a dark romance, don’t ask me why 🙈. Haven’t read one in awhile so I wanted to get back into it. 🤭

This book, for the most part, delivered exactly what it promised! There was tension, questionable choices, red flags everywhere. Again, I know what I signed up for. 🥳 For a dark romance, it was truly dark. Surely, there were lighter scenes but for the most part, there were some heavily violent scenes. So definitely check out the trigger warnings provided by the author!

The relationship between the two main characters was quite explosive. Both context and conditions of them meeting, as mentioned, were very questionable. But then again, I’m not the moral police and we’re here for the vibes lmao. 🫣 It was interesting seeing how obsessed with her Gabriel became. Likewise, with Amelia. 😏 I never thought these characters were ever going to be able to catch a break, to be honest, because something wrong would always happen.

The potential was great. In fact, my issues surprisingly are not about any characters. Although usually I am able to overlook editing issues when reading for fun and vibes, somethings here were throwing me off. The main issue, which I found quite confusing at times, was that the tense would change even within the same paragraph. Again, sometimes I could be willing to overlook this. Especially if it doesn’t happen often. However, it was throwing me out of the story because it was very frequent. 😭 and I felt so bad because I really wanted to enjoy this more 😢..

I’m not trying to be mean and absolutely nothing negative about the lovely author! In fact, I am more than happy and willing to check out the other books she’s written! ☺️ I’m just hoping this was a singular issue with this book. As it’s my first book by this author, I’m not sure if it happens elsewhere 🙈😩.

I am very excited for the other guys who are getting books in the same universe though! There is a specific one I’m soooo excited to read about 👀❤️

the story started with gabriel finding out his brother's car went into an accident and his body was never found. he hired someone to do background check on the whereabouts of his brother and he found out that he became a father 16 months ago. he went after amelia and his nephew. the original plan was to take the kid and kill the mother, but he was mesmerized just one look at her. he then changed his mind and bring amelia along with her son back to his house.

he locked up her for a few days in a room because he doesn't know what to do with her. but then the sudden urge to protect her came out of nowhere and he thinks she'll only be untouchable if they know she's with him. also, because he wanted to make her his permanently. thus forcing her to marry him. she doesn't want it but her options are either marry him and be with her son or die and her son won't know her at all.

it was a difficult ride between the two of them. amelia was angry at gabriel for taking away her freedom. and gabriel was deadset on making amelia fall for him. amelia was so conflicted and confused with the emotions running in her. she wanted to hate gabriel for the things he did but she was also falling for him because the guy literally puts her on the pedestal. i mean how can you be mad at someone when all they ever did since the start was care and protect you? though i get the kidnapping part but all throughout their stay in that house, people respected her, gabriel's mom takes care of amelia son and she was also nice to amelia. there aren't toxic people who's trying to hurt her aside from the traitor who only comes up on the second part of the book.

but once amelia comes to term with her feelings and finally accepted that she wanted gabriel the two of them combust. they were freaking hot together and so swoony too. i love seeing them openly admitting they love each other and how they can't live without the other.

i looove gabriel. he's morally grey and ruthless to other people but never with amelia. he was supportive, protective, and loving when it comes to her. it was swoony reading him falling for her fast and hard. and how he always try to make her situation better. he can be domineering but it never come off as annoying. his patience with amelia was astounding. the dedication and the way this man worships the ground amelia walks on was so endearing. his revenge on her abusive stepfather was chef's kiss that jerk deserved that.

i loved amelia too, she was strong and feisty. she never let gabriel walk all over her and she always stand her ground when it comes to her and child's safety. she's no doormat which i'm really glad because in mafia romances heroine are usually portrayed as weak character, most especially when they're attracted to the mmc. in this case, amelia maybe attracted to gabriel but her annoyance and rational thinking always prevails. she never lets her hormones decides for her which is i'm truly happy about.

but what she went through since she was a child up to the present was something that made me so anxious and uneasy. she's been abused for most of her life though gabriel always do his best to make it better for her, the trauma will always be there. it was so heartbreaking reading what happened to her and how she worked so hard to get herself out of that situation.

this was a really good book. i enjoyed reading it but most especially gabriel. he was just the perfect mafia husband. ruthless and protective at the same time. though i would've wish for more scenes between gabriel and his nephew. i think he only made an effort to get to know the kid around 70% of the book. i wanted a bit more of the backgound of the villain or where the majority of his hate came from.

overall, this was a good one. i liked the writing style, the story was easy to follow, the mcs and side characters were likeable too. and i wanted to see the stories of each character. this book is definitely worth reading and recommending

3.75 ⭐

so, it was good?
I really started this book with zero expectations since the recent ones I've read of this niche were quite disappointing but— this one elevated the bar.

I was intrigued since the beginning for how it started, loved the ambiance and the mystery.
I'm not spending so much words of the things I liked but I have like two or three things that didn't sit well on me.

- good lord the translations 😩 istg why authors don't check if it's correct or not before publishing a book. it costs ZERO time, literally. Google Traslate works pretty well in my humble opinion. You're not translating an entire essay about quantum physics, you're translating 2 literal words that they teach in preschool.
I get that we, in Italy, we have a different grammar but ffs

I WILL. TRANSLATE THAT. FOR YOU. FOR. FREE.
literally, DM me.

Care for an example?

"My world" = (il) mio mondo / mondo mio both are correct (with GoogleT)
why the actual f did you wrote "mondo mia"
"world" (mondo) in IT is a masculine noun, where the f did you end up with this term? you can't just invent your own grammar.

And goes on for basically the whole book and let me tell you, it was nerve-racking.
I cannot give it 5 stars let alone 4.

-the other thing, I was a bit disappointed with who was behind everything, "the villain" it was pretty obvious in this situation, I would have loved a little more mystery and their relationship a bit more developed and the reasons that drove him to act like that a bit more explained. For the way they were portrayed they seemed a little childish.

overall.. I'm looking forward for the other books the author have planned to write in future,
Atlas is getting his own book (All the Broken Pieces in early 2023) so will Enzo and Davon.
I'm VERY interested in Enzo's 👀

rating: 2 || spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ (2.75, maybe inching to 3)

gabriel and amelia's love story was meh. the spice was also meh.

if anyone is looking start reading mafia stories, i'd recommend this one. compared to other mafia stories i've read, this was one mild (this is speaking from personal opinion and experience. everyone's threshold is different). but please, check ur TWs before diving into this book.

i was hoping for more with this story. the storyline was interesting, and i wished the author expanded more on the dead brother's baby mama situation.

i didn't really feel their connection. however i felt the connection with gabriel. he was sweet and ruthless at the same time. my type of guy. honestly, gabriel is the saving grace of this story (and perhaps enzo too).

in conclusion, if you've read heavier mafia story, you might find this one boring. the MMC was the only reason i continued on with the story.

Thank you for the ARC!

Holy sh*t, was I NOT expecting that. I’m always a fan of dark mafia romance, but this book blew me away. I enjoyed reading Gabriel & Amelia’s story and was so sad once the book was over.

Gabriel, the mafia don that he is, is used to taking whatever he wants without ever having to ask for it. So it’s no surprise when he finds and wants Amelia, he does precisely that… after he takes Amelia and forces her to marry him, he goes after the one thing she is not willing to give… her heart.

There is so much to this book that I want to discuss but can’t because I can’t post any spoilers! However, let me say I strongly recommend reading this book. There are a lot of twists and turns and betrayals. When you think the betrayal is happening from one person, you’d never actually expect who it is.

I want to end this by saying I was on the EDGE OF MY SEAT at 93% till the very end. Poor sweet Amelia, the horrendous things she had to endure. I am genuinely so happy with how this book ended, and I can’t WAIT for her next release about a character that shocked me at the very end! This was 100% a five-star read for me. ❤️‍🩹

So I don’t really appreciate dark romances where it’s so dark I cannot figure out if the male lead is right or wrong. I know I make no sense but in my head I do. This book obviously had gory details but the relationship Amelia and Gabriel had, chefs kiss🤩

Gabriel is the perfect, he’s in love with his wife from day one I could see that and everything he did. I loved how the author included so many cute moments between A and G which had butterflies fluttering in my stomach, they’re just so cute gahhhh. The only thing that bothered me was how I could smell the plot twist from miles away, I knew how everything was gonna go down and that just ruined the X factor for me. But, the end where Atlas finds himself, and his story, it makes me weep for him. He’s such a perfect half brother and he doesn’t deserve anything he got.

This book….

I don’t even know what to say other than it was bad.

By like 20% in I’ve already deduced who the “bad guy” is. Wasn’t even a good villain. Absolutely nothing was shocking about this book, there was no twists, or amazing moments. There were definitely some gross moments, and cringey moments.

Nothing about the writing style pulls you in and envelops you into the story.

The MMC was a fucking idiot- what man in a gang feels what’s supposed to be these horrible gruesome scars on the FMC’s back, and not even her lower back, and says “oh they must be stretch marks from her pregnancy”… I…. Pardon..?

Nothing about this was good.

Don't you all hate when you figure out the killer early on and then you're forced to spend the rest of the book rolling your eyes at the main characters for not solving it even when they have the clues right in front of their darned eyes and EVEN when they specify again and again how they get the ick feeling about that said killer and they don't even investigate that???? Yeah, me too.

Enjoyable story, but a bit sloppy

Enjoyed the narrative and the spice but it was distracting how it would shift tenses within a paragraph. Sometimes sentences didn’t make sense.

Was this written by a man who has zero insight on women? I officially hate Ria Wilde's books, never again. Complete bullshit.

10% into this book I was like hell no, because I think English wasn’t this author’s first language, there were soo many grammatical and spelling mistakes. It was soo off putting, more than the story I was focusing on why on earth the sentence started off in the past tense then ended up in the future tense 💀 An example:

“He smirks, “You think you can get passed my men?”

Passed?!! It’s literally past😭 I’m sorry but if you’re going to publish a book atleast get someone to check over once. This isn’t Wattpad. But after I got over the mistakes and just accepted that I could nothing in this situation, I started enjoying the book sm. The storyline was soo my vibe. Captor (sort of), forced marriage, single mother etc.

I felt soo bad for Amelia, in most Mafia and dark romance books, the FMC gets kidnapped or hurt like once at end and then she gets rescued and they live happily ever after but in this book, poor girl got shot at once, at her wedding might I add, house broken into and nearly kidnapped the second time which led to bruised ribs, then actually got kidnapped the third time and -don’t get me started on the gruesome details- it hurt reading it ngl. But Yh, you get the gist, she didn’t have the greatest luck. Apart from that i LOVED Amelia, she was so strong and we love a FMC that knows boundaries and has self respect. She didn’t stop fighting until she knew that her son was safe.

Lincoln (the son ) was sort missing for half the book and although I love a good couple story, if there’s a child involved I expected more chapters with them, more bonding etc. Gabriel was nice. I love how respectful was and how he NEVER pressured Amelia into anything. Usually these alpha mafia males love to come make a claim on their wife’s ASAP but he gave her space and waited for her to come to him. And the fact that he asked for consent - literally asked her to say yes before moving ahead and didn’t assume anything - it had my heart.

The kidnapping scene at the end was soo gruesome I literally had to put my kindle down like 3 times to take a deep breath and process all the details. It sounded like it HURT😭 I’m not gonna ruin anything about the villain but all I can say is that, he took me by surprise, I didn’t think he would be capable of such things.

Ooo also, I’ve said this once I’ll say it again, I love when the FMC’s have a good relationship with their bodyguards, first Colt and Nate then Enzo (even Devon if he counts), it was soo cute. I love how Gabriel let Amelia have all these relationships, usually in books like this the men are soo possessive and don’t let the FMC’s dress how they like or be friends with the opposite gender, Gabriel wasn’t like that and I appreciate that so much. Overall it was a great read. People say don’t judge a book by its cover, I say don’t judge a book by its writing😭💀
