Ariana Hawkes’ Alpha Mate is Idris and Delaney’s story and it’s rife with enemies-to-lovers, second chances, and all things good and evil in this paranormal romance where politics and rivalry supersedes family and doing the right thing. But then again, it’s also a hot shapeshifter story with an enticing wolf shifter who will have you swooning and making him your latest book boyfriend.

I have never been disappointed with this authors' work, and this is no exception. Our hero/heroine are both extremely strong characters who often clash, even though the heat between them pours like a volcano at times.
Our heroine, Delaney, is human and an officer of the law, a real tough cookie who takes her job seriously. Following in the footsteps of her father and on her way up the ladder, not much will crack the veneer she's encased her heart with, but when a chance encounter at the local watering hole brings her face to face, or perhaps we should say body to body, with Idris, a werewolf on a mission, all bets are off! Not only are sparks flying, but it would appear hot lava is pouring everywhere.
With a string of missing women to deal with, all roads seem to lead Delaney to Idris. How could she possibly have any feelings of attraction to a suspect?
Idris is on a mission, but will he end up opening a true Pandora's Box of hidden secrets while trying desperately to fulfill his mission? And, who knows, he just might find the only woman suitable to be his mate!
I absolutely loved this book. It had a wonderful pace and a story line that kept my attention throughout. I didn't find that it lagged anywhere. It definitely kept me in suspense on quite a few points, which is always a good thing.
Definitely some mild BDSM, but nothing too serious.

At least it's short
I guess the only good thing I can say is it's a short book? Idk, this just didn't do it for me, the characters didn't make sense together, they didn't seem to have any real chemistry and the storyline was very shallow and predictable. The last 70% of the book was just ridiculous filler. This is not a dark romance in any way. The references to BDSM as "S&M" seemed so badly informed that I wonder if the only research the author did on it was watching the 50 Shades of Grey movie. The characters were stiff and one dimensional, and the plot flow seemed disjointed and robotic, there's not really any logical reason for it to progress to the next plot point except it's the next bulletpoint in the authors outline draft. The sex scenes were mediocre and sometimes awkward, they certainly did but redeem the rest of the book.

What a enjoyable interesting and entertaining read. I liked that the resolve wasn't stretched out. I like turmoil don't get me wrong but I'm not over fond of unnecessary strife. Although Delaney was still new to the whole werewolf dynamics she had accepted the facts that Idris belongs to her and likewise. She was already feeling the strange pull and attraction to him. Overall a great read. As always my reviews are totally voluntarily and no monetary compensation was received and the opinions I have expressed are completely my own.

This was a great quick read!
Delaney is a strong character that doesn't take shit from anyone. She is very loyal to her job, and is trying to figure out how to navigate it and this new werewolf side of things. Idris wasn't exactly a criminal, but someone who was complete opposite of what Delaney represented.
Their story was unique and extremely hot! You get to see both of them trying to work together to try to figure what is going on in the town and with the werewolves. I definitely enjoyed it and wished it was longer!

One of my favorite tropes is fated mates and oh boy did author A.L. Hawkes deliver. Delaney a sheriff's daughter a sheriff herself hasn't had much luck in love. Delaney goes to a bar on a call where she finds two wolves and one of the sexiest men she has ever seen. Caught between her forbidden attraction to the prime suspect named Indris and unraveling the case of disappearing women. Delaney must make a choice of doing her job or picking the man who has turned her world upside down. This book had it all love, spice and mystery so many twist and turns. I Can't recommend this book enough!

Ok read
Did enjoy the book, It was good up until the end, then it just sorry to say got lame, if you're gonna start dark stay dark you can have a happy ending without getting wishy washy and compromising the storyline, I think that the MFC could have been a little more understanding and not so well tight a**ed, the dad fixing his situation on his own just made me laugh, how are you gonna fix your pack if you don't even want to be a wolf🤔 a better ending would have been 5 stars.

Wow !! What an incredible story. I love this story. Delaney and idris are great characters. They drawed me into the story and i could not put it down. The mystery, suspense, secrets, and the connection kept me guessing what was going on. If u love paranormal this is a must read. I voluntarily reviewed this ARC.

If you’re looking for a dom/sub dark romance with some blurred lines - this is defiantly the book for you! A standalone in the series, this was my first read by AL Hawkes. I did really like Delaney and Idris even if their relationship started off pretty bumpy. Read if you’re into BDSM but make sure to check trigger warnings (seemed to have some blurred lines almost non con imo)

What a fabulous take on a shifter romance. Idris has been blackmailed into finding mates for his pack of savage wolves to save his mom until he comes across Delaney a spitfire of a woman who is a police officer and never does what she is told. He is intrigued by her but has always known he will never have a mate as an Omega. Delaney is determined to find out what secrets he is hiding and goes out of her way to learn what is happening to the missing women. This story is a total twist with action packed chapters as well as some very HOT and steamy times. We see how dominate he is and how she does submit to him when she feels she shouldn't. This story will take you on a wild ride of emotions as well as seeing how people can change the way they think for love. You will fall in love with these characters even in the rougher parts of the book. I was given this book as an ARC for my honest review.

Fabulous book. I just wish we could give this book more than 5 stars because it deserves 10 stars because it is just that good. Intense and full of Amazing Action. You Definitely need to read this one. Awesome job. I received this book as a Arc for a honest review.

This is a short fast read. The 2 main characters have very strong personalities and constantly butt heads. It’s an enemies to lovers with a plot twist at the end. The character development is nice and the plot is easy to follow. It held my attention the entire time.

It’s action packed with quick chapters and yummy spice with an hot & domineering shifter werewolf 🔥I really enjoyed Delany’s character and how she took no one’s shit — not even Idris’s. And her moral dilemma was totally relatable.
The ending? So cute 🥺🫶🏼🐺 I loved their little happily every after! I’d highly recommend if you are a fan of enemies to lovers, looking to read your first shifter romance, and you like your men (or should I say wareolve 🤪) possessive!

I love the idea of mates and how at least for one of the individuals they know instantly.
Idris and Delaney were great characters. I liked that Delaney was written as a strong woman but was willing to let down her guard with the right person.

surprised and delighted
I started to read this with an amount of caution. But as the story evolved i found i was captivated.

For those who are not aware there is spanking in BDSM! If you do not like BDSM then do not read this.
This is a far cry from what I am used to from this author....Some may find it a bit dark, but in reality it's the blunt truth of what a messed up pack would be like and I loved reading about the truth for once. We are always reading about the good parts and some bad parts and alluding to what bad packs do, but never actually reading about it...Well you will here, and to some it might be a bit offending, but it's just the reality of life in a pack run by a bad alpha and what it will do to the pack.
Idris is an Omega wolf who leaves the pack to join the Military as soon as he comes of age and to live among humans as long as he can since his pack is run by a very evil alpha. But then his alpha starts to threaten harm to his mother who is also an Omega and very submissive if he doesn't find him and his pack mates humans to take as mates. Idris is forced to do what goes against his beliefs, but his mother has to be protected.
Then he comes face to face with Sheriffs Deputy Delaney a human and his wolf does a happy dance. But it can't be since Omega's don't have mates! Is there more to the story than meets the eye?
