Shattered Chaos

Forbidden acts. Evil intents. Depraved souls. Perverse pleasure.
Everything changed when I walked into my father’s office that day eight years ago. I lost everything, my home, my family, even myself. I’m not the same girl I was back then.
I’ve spent every day sharpening my broken edges to turn them into weapons. I embraced the chaos in my soul and now my heart beats to thunder and my blood flows with electricity. The only thing keeping me alive? Knowing that I’ll wreak havoc on the ones who tore me apart.
I’ve built my throne with blood and grown my kingdom with violence. Now I’m ready to tear theirs down. I’ve gained the money, power and the skills to do it. The only thing I can’t do? Love. But it’s okay. I have rules for that.

Shattered Chaos is the first book in the contemporary new adult series, Steel Roses. It is a why choose romance, meaning the female protagonist has three or more love interests and will not be forced to choose. It is intended for mature audiences and contains high steam, foul language, as well as themes of violence and revenge.

Damn like where do I even start with this review. I don't know if I can put into words how much this story is part of me.

First we have Scar, my queen, my main chick and complete fucking bad ass bitch. She is sassy, moody, determined, flirty and won't let anyone stand in the way of what she not only wants but needs.

Luca, my beautiful and bossy Luca. First off you all need to now that Luca is mine. I've claimed him since day 1. He's smart, Ruthless, dominating and completely behind Scar all the way.

Kade our beautiful brute is a force of nature. He's your reckless goofball who takes on all the pleasures in life and will stop at nothing to try give Scar her happiness.

Then we have Noah, sweet and pure little Noah LOL except Noah is also fucking Daddy and also mine!!! He's your sweet all American boy next door type and balances out the others and Scar perfectly.

Ryder is the newest member of the group and has a dark past that rivals Scar allowing them to connect instantly.

Each of the guys give Scar something she is missing, things she craves that even she doesn't realise she needs. They are a dysfunctional and delicious little family.

Now this is a story that is dark and full of triggers just how I like them and you need to proceed with caution. The scenes she creates are graphic and violent but needed to create the chaos that is Scars life.

Aside from that chaos there is also love, friendship, lust, sex and a whole lotta fucking blood.

The world Sam has created is captivating and amazing and tells a dark tale of the criminal underworld and the people that occupy it. The Villians are hate worthy and the side characters all have their own stories begging to be told.

You need to dive head first into Scars world and be consumed by her and then be prepared to have your heart ripped out stomped on, put back together and then fucking broken.

The centre of this whole book for me is the sweet little girl that is Rowan. My sweet baby Roe. She cracked my heart in two and I can't say more about her without pouring my heart out sooooo you will just have to read to see what I mean.

Oh and I hope you all love a good cliffy bevause this one is freaking fantastic!

Deadly Chaos is going to be even more epic than this one and I cannot wait.

10 / 10 recommend this to everyone who likes dark RH stories with lots of blood 🥵❤️

Guys let me tell y’all, this book is ALL in the name !!!

I’m not huge on reading RH but this book had me hooked right from the start! 👀👀 Scars emotions and life was so raw that it made everything soooo much better. I love when I read about a strong main female character who gives no F***s! Each one of these characters were so different that they all fit and balanced each other so well.

The entire time reading this book I was on the edge of my seat. There are some intense and graphic scenes in this book but they were delivered so well. I can’t wait for the second book because this ending had me like, WTF!!

Thank you for this AMAZING series Samantha Bee!! 👏👏👏

A great start to 2021!

Scar had my attention from the first page. A fierce female character who's been through a world of pain and chaos... she's not the type to back down. She isn't a woman who hides in a corner waiting for justice. No, she's going to go out and get it herself.

Of course... those men ain't too bad either. ;)

I love this book and I'm dying for Deadly Chaos! In the meantime, I'll just drool over Scar and her boys.

*Arc Review* (this is an honest review)

Shattered Chaos is the first book in the new Steel Roses reverse harem series and let me say, i 👏🏼 am 👏🏼 here 👏🏼 for 👏🏼 this 👏🏼 series. Honestly, i already love it.

This book started with a prologue that brought you right into the messed up world Scar lives in. And now the only thing on her mind is revenge. This girl lost almost everything at once and her driving force is making the pieces of shit from the underground crime world pay. She’s determined to end (quite literally) anyone involved with human trafficking.

I’m honestly blown. the. fuck. away. by this book. Scar is hands down one of my favorite book heroines. She’s everything i want from a FMC. she’s strong, determined, and caring, while also being dangerous as fucking hell. like honestly, I want to take fighting classes now. or go to a shooting range. maybe learn how to throw knifes and axes. Basically anything to be more badass like her.

Also, Rowan will steal your freaking heart ❤️ Roe baby, you are the sweetest.

Sam NAILED the harem. this genre is always difficult because i feel like you always like one guy more than the other but let me tell you.... i loved all her men. Even if she wasn’t sexually with them all yet, she has her own connection/relationship with each of them and i loved it. half of them didn’t know each other before but they all came together for her.

This is told from multiple POVs and tackles some pretty heavy topics. It also has some pretty gruesome scenes. but Shattered Chaos is an AMAZING debut novel from Samantha Bee and i can’t fucking wait to read Deadly Chaos (also, holy freaking hell that cliffhanger!)

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
@authorsambee

If I had to describe this book in one word it would be- INTENSE.

This is a story about a girl who was physically & sexually abused as a child. After she turns 18, she dedicates her life to avenging other girls who have fallen victim to sex trafficking and plotting revenge on those who abused her. She fights alongside several sexy fellas that make up her reverse harem.

I will warn you- this book is graphic & may be difficult for some readers. However, it is so worth the read! Sam does an amazing job creating the complex world of Scar & her harem. The situations and events are scary realistic and will shake you to your core. Sam also tells this story from the POV of multiple characters throughout the book, which I loved. She ends Book 1 with a cliffhanger that leaves me anxious for Book 2!

Definitely add this to your TBR- it releases on New Years Day!

Honestly, most of this book gave me second-hand embarrassment - the plot, the characters, the dialogue - it was trying to do too much.

I read this book because it is incredibly popular and highly praised on BookTok. First, let's get the cover out of the way. PLEASE quit putting people on the cover of books. It is so so awkward. I don't want to be reading a book with a woman literally licking a man's face on the cover. That could just be a personal preference of mine. Secondly, this book was filled with typos. Listen, I am NOT a stickler for grammar and punctuation in books but this was insane. I've never seen "too" used incorrectly in place of "to" so many times before in my life. There were so many sentences with awkward commas that should have just been two complete sentences to begin with. It was honestly distracting. I usually am kind of excited when I find a typo because I just know it went unnoticed during editing. I was overwhelmed by how many typos there were in this.

Now, the characters were... interesting. You have Scar, the female MC, who is involved to some extent with Luca, Kade, Noah, and Ryder. Scar is portrayed as this total badass of a woman who had a very traumatic childhood. The whole plot of this book is Scar working with some of the guys to get revenge on her childhood abusers. They basically have organized this gang that goes after human trafficking rings, which had the potential to be a cool story! However, they only go on one "mission" and that's within the first 10% of the book. Nothing else happens until LITERALLY 98% in the book. The rest of the time is just them living their lives, preparing for an attack one day that never happens. I understand this is a series, so I know more happens in the second and third books. I was just let down because it felt like nothing was going on for the majority of the time.

I was bored, the writing wasn't that great, and I really didn't love the main characters. I wish some of the MCs weren't so cringey.

Scar is definitely the type of girl to challenge a man to a pull-up dual or some bizarre shiz like that. It's just not the type of badass lead I thought she would be. Also, she threw a massive fit toward the end of the book. That was not very badass of her.

Kade is a cage fighter who is described as always having a big, goofy grin on his face. That ain't cute. He's fine other than that.

Noah was nice but then for no reason at all he starts only referring to Scar as "baby girl." I'm sorry, but no please.

Luca was fine. I liked him the best.

I don't understand Ryder's role in the book. Maybe he will be more prominent in the other two books, but he was super insignificant in this one.

Overall, I'm glad to know this is a debut novel. I hope the series/writing only gets better from here. I'm only seeing good reviews about the other two books, so I think that's a good sign.

Thank you for the ARC!
Shattered Chaos follows Scar on her mission for vengeance after what her father did to her and her mother did to her family.

I loved Scar and even though some of her actions angered me, mainly not letting the boys in fully, I also understood them. The way she is with Rowan just melts my heart.

I loved kade and his sense of humour especially when he turned around to Luca and said "I like him can we keep him".

Luca is still a bit of a mystery to me, like majority of his actions are to accommodate scar for obvious reasons. But I wish I knew more about him when he isn't so heavily linked to scar.

On the whole I absolutely loved this book!! It was so brilliantly written to make me want to read more. Also what was that ending?!?! like I love and hate cliffhangers and boy is this cliff hanger going to stay with me for awhile!

3.75 ⭐️

I first came across the blurb and after reading it, I was excited for the book. I knew I had to sign up for the ARC. Which I did and ended up getting.

I started reading the story and thought this is definitely interesting. Especially since I have read books that are similar in themes like gangs, crime, killing/murder, badass girl with traumatic past, hot overprotective guys etc and have enjoyed them. So I knew I would definitely enjoy reading this book.
However this didn’t seem to be the case. Early on in the story, I felt a disconnect and the more I read, the wider the disconnect became. I kept having to stop reading because I just couldn’t get into it. Which I found weird because like I mentioned before, I have enjoyed reading multiple books with similar themed stories. Yet in this case, it wasn’t working for me. Not to say it was a bad story, because it wasn’t. I guess it just wasn’t working for me as well as I hoped.

However there were aspects I did enjoy though. Such as the multiple POVs from each of the main characters. It made it more enjoyable to be able to see what each character sees and experiences throughout, giving us a better chance at knowing them, as well as understanding them on a deeper level.

Shattered Chaos had a whole load of characters, not just the main ones. But many secondary characters too. And of course out of all of them, I definitely had some favourite.
Scar wasn’t a favourite, since she kind of annoyed me for a majority of the book. But I will say I loved that despite her traumatic past, she was able to stay strong and not let it stop her from continuing on with her life. Also, how she was toward Rowan, showing her love and care, motherly like.
Noah, there was just something about him that reeled me in. Though he seemed like the all American boy next door, he still had a badass side to him and was strong and didn’t let the other guys scare or intimidate him when he first met them. Plus he seemed to know how to make Scar feel at ease.
Rowan, such a sweet, cute, innocent little girl. Bless her!
Kade, such a goofball, but still tough and strong. You could definitely see he is head over heels for Scar, though he tries not to show it on the outside. And for that you can’t help but love him for it.
Ryder wasn’t a fav, he was more like an enigma. I felt like there was more than meets the eye to him. And for that he reeled me in for sure. Especially with that ending. I definitely want to know more of him story.
I will say I was not a fan of Luca, something about him rubbed me the wrong way. And for that I could not like him.

I can say the closer to the end I got, I was able to get a little more into the story. As opposed to the beginning. And by the end, I was kind of glad I read the story and not leaving it hanging as DNF. Especially with that cliffhanger, I will say I definitely want to read the next book because I want to know what will happen in Deadly Chaos !

Fuck fuck fuck! What were you thinking @SamanthaBee while writing the epilogue???! This gets so much darker & twisty-er!

**Rape & Sexual Assault Tigger warning**

This story is fanfukingtastic! I loved every single second and I'm hella disappointed with the cliffhanger ending. It didn't make me want to throw my kindle, but definitely made me think about the next book which is going to be a complicated one.

The prologue is filled with darkness & made me shiver & so did the epilogue. There are many things that change & grow in this book. Scar's personality changes, her nurturing side comes out but her deadly desire is still ever present. New relationships are formed, both in the friendship & romantic aspect.

This has everything you want-- blood, evilness, darkness, love, steam, innocence, light & humour. The author has very strategically inserted humourous incidents when there's too much happening, or when the scene is just flowing with happiness to keep it up while darkness is invading the space. This novel is steamy n' spicy.

It is proved that I'm a sucker for blood because I was genuinely smiling, laughing & giddy with excitement when Emel made his first & last mistake. **rubs palms in anticipation**

Every guy has an absolutely different connection with Scar. We have our own darkness filled goofball Kade, our sexy bossman Luca, our sweet, innocent but filled with suprises Noah & our carrying demons & guilt Ryder. Ofcourse each guy has a role & carries importance & I absolutely adore everyone, especially Kade since he's adorable (ps: reference) but I'm more inclined towards Noah.♡ I'm desperately hoping for Noah to have more POVs in the sequel & am waiting for his entry in the underground world!!!

Roe baby might be the strongest character here after Scar because I sure wanted to punch every fucker who hurted her but she made everything rainbows & sunshine and melted my heart everytime she spoke.

Absolute love this debut novel by Samantha Bee!!!

Samantha Bee, where do I begin? This is your first novel and I’m in shock. That was absolutely incredible. Words can’t express how proud I am of you! The way Samantha details everything in the book is extraordinary. You not only get a feeling and description but you feel like you’re living in the pages with Scar and her men. This book has you going through every possible emotion. You are laughing with Scar’s humor, crying at the tragedies experienced, mad at decisions made and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

The book is about a girl named Letty, who has a terrible, unfortunate past. Instead of dwelling on it, she wants to turn her pain into revenge. She experiences so much turmoil that she feels she needs to change her name to Scar to never forget what made her this way. The development we see from her is inspirational. She has a heart of gold and skin of steel. Unfortunately, it wasn’t always like that.

She is blessed to have a few knight in shining armor. Luca is her right hand. Having helped her through some of the toughest situations. Never turning his back on her and always there. Kade, is not as close to her Luca, but just as important. He really brings out the laughter she needs if situations arise and call for too much seriousness.
Lastly, we have Noah. He is the one who known Scar the least amount of time and was meant to be just a friends with benefit. All of their roles are crucial to Scar. Even if she doesn’t realize it.

The events that happen in this book are very heavy and deep. Very real, and so sad. I absolutely applaud Samantha Bee on how she handled them so delicately and brought light to them. By no means is this a comical, fun light hearted book, but the humor has the perfect balance to even out the tough heart strings being pulled. I can not wait for Deadly Chaos. Girl, you killed it! I can not recommend this book enough!!!

My first 5 star rating of the year.

First of all I have to mention the bookcover , unfortunately for me it doesn't do much , we all know how important those covers are and its the first thing you look at , especially when its from a unknown author. The cover screams more bully highschool then what this book is really about. Its not a bad cover but for a book like this I think something with blue roses dripping blood for instance would have fit more

That said this book was amaziiiiing! Sucks to know we have to wait until June for the second one.

Scar is such an amazing woman ! And little Roe , oh how she broke my heart , one of my favourite moments was actually Roe and Luca and when she told him "hi"
Damn I want Roe back with the family , it won't be complete without her.

So I love Kade and Luca two hot broody dangerous men , who wouldn't fall for that and then there is sweet Noah , I wonder if he is going to be brought into what they are doing , maybe he is the one that could bring Scar back from being a rogue ? He does bring the calm to Scars chaos .Ryder I am not so sure about to be honest , I like him , just dont know if I like him being a love interest for Scar.

LOVED IT , and I would definitely recommend reading it , if you don't have triggers

Pain, snark and everything dark

In this debut novel, Samantha Bee takes us on an incredible journey. The prologue grabbed me, and I mean, GRABBED me and I didn’t want to put this book down.

“She is not sugar, spice and everything nice. No, that girl is made of pain, snark and everything dark.” - Shattered Chaos, Samantha Bee

This book is so well written. The characters are so well thought out and beautifully broken.
I loved Scar from the prologue and I was dying to see how her harem would come together. She owns what she likes and does it with no apology. I so enjoyed watching the relationships develop between not just Scar and the guys, but the guys themselves.
I am already dying for book 2.

Wow. What a ride and what a debut book! I loved it and I thought that Scar was an incredible FMC - she's been through a lot but she's come back and is now out for blood, for revenge. Her guys were great and I can't wait to see it be developed more in the next book. It's packed full of twists and turns and definitely keeps you gripped.

I Need More

I can't express how much I loved this story. Scar is like a Phoenix rising from the ashes of her tragic past. I love how she is a strong female, but you get to see her vulnerability under the veil. Her chemistry with her harem is amazing and is unique with each guy. I can't wait to see how this story continues to develop in the next book. I will be impatiently waiting.

She is not sugar, spice and everything nice. No, that girl is made of pain, snark and everything dark.

Shattered Chaos is the first book in the Steel Roses series, and the title does not lie. This book had me hanging on literally every word, begging for more. Wow!!

This is a dark reverse harem, featuring Scar and her men. The main characters are around 26 years old, which is a great change to a lot of the younger main characters. The story is an interesting combination of current events, a little bit of the past, and some memory flash backs. It is told from a multiple point of view, and it was perfect to get a view into the different personalities, reasoning, and feelings.

Scar is such a strong female lead, that kicks ass and is a passionate person with a twisted sense of humor that I fell in love with. She looks after those around her, despite not intending to.

"I didn't get lost in the storm. I became the storm."

This book honestly melted my heart, and had me loving the dynamics that Scar has with the men. As she builds her harem, it was amazing to see the dynamics change and grow. I cannot wait to see how the story line continues. Her men are all perfect for her and balance her out in perfect ways.

Can't wait for Deadly Chaos!

TRIGGER WARNING: This book does contain some pretty dark subject matter around human trafficking.

This is the first, but definitely not the last book from Samantha Bee that I have read.... or maybe I should say devoured?!
Anyway once I started reading about Scar I just couldn't stop, she is just a character that you need to know more about. And when you add in her two best friends and all the shit going on in their past, present and future? How can you not keep turning page after page? The way this book is written will bring you to your knees, and will make you feel like you are right there with them. Pulling for each of them, wanting to hug, fight and drink.
Please give me the next one soon because damn.......

Scar's life changed the day she discovered her father was involved in human trafficking. Fast forward 8 years, Scar is a completely different person and she is working with Luca, Kade, and their team to take down players in human trafficking rings and getting her revenge. Although she closes herself off and deprives herself of any real relationships, she grows close with her guys and slowly starts to let some of her walls down.

I liked this story. It was complex. We have Scar dealing with her past and the demons that still haunt her. She is doing everything she can to bring down these men who are ruining the lives of so many. Scar is brutal at it as well. I like that she gives zero f---s and handles her business. Sometimes, she is a little too reckless and it's an ongoing issue with her and the ones closest to her. We also get to see Scar open herself up to different types of relationships and slowly defrost her icy demeanor and standoffish ways when it comes to friends and her relationships with guys. There is also a lot of her working with victims and helping them heal after the brutality that comes with being a captive in the skin trade.
I really liked Scar. I like heroines who are tough. I liked that we aren't told a million different times how strong/tough/badass Scar is, rather we get to read the ways she is all those things instead. Im interested to see how her character continues to develop over the next few books. She changed a lot between the start and end of this book.

The guys - Luca, Kade, Noah, and Ryder. Nothing happens with Luca and Ryder, but its clear that they are inevitable. I think Luca is my favorite. He's head over heels in love with Scar and shows that he will do anything for her. I kept waiting for that moment when hey both say "eff it" and do the damn thing... but alas, it doesn't happen in this book. Kade is a lot. I like him, but he has what I call a "small doses" kind of personality. He could also be described as extra. We don't really get to know much about Noah or Ryder in this book, but I am interested to learn more about them.

There are a lot of secondary characters, but it isn't too much. I did have a hard time keeping some of the guys' names straight initially, but towards the end it gets easier. I love Roe and hope we get more of her in the next book, as well as her with Trevor, Kairen, and Camden.

Overall this book was great. I really liked it, the only thing that I didn't like was at times it seemed to drag. The multiple POVs helped with it a little, but Im more preferential to the characters interacting more rather than a bunch of rambling about stuff that sometimes seems a bit repetitive. Also, the flashbacks... they sometimes seemed to come out of nowhere and, full disclosure, skimmed over most of them.

I will definitely be continuing with this series. Part of me wants to wait to read book 2, knowing that book 3 isn't due until December, but I'm an impatient b---h and already know I'm about to download the 2nd book and get started on it.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a strong heroine with a lot of sass and attitude.

So I have mixed feelings about this one.

It took me a while to get into it. While I really liked the story, I struggled with the characters.

Scar was strong, sassy, and seriously badass. I admired how she was able to put herself back together after everything she’s been through. But still, something about her just rubbed me the wrong way at first. In the end, I was able to somehow warm up to her in the second half of the book.

As for her guys, I felt like they weren’t equal and that really bothered me.
I assume this will change later on, but in this part, I couldn’t help but feel like Noah was more of an afterthought since he wasn’t present for the majority of the story and didn’t know anything about their operations. And Ryder wasn’t present until the second half of the story, so we barely got to know him and there’s just friendship between them for now.
Luca and Kade had a much stronger connection with Scar. Luca especially since he’s been with her from the start and knows her past.

Surprisingly enough, I liked Ryder the most. And after that cliffhanger ending, he’s basically the only reason why I will read the next book.

So overall, this is a 3.5⭐️ read for me. I rounded it up since this is author's debut and I really loved the storyline and at least some of the characters. And I admit I’m curious about what will happen next.

So good! Just. So. Good.

I, personally, love Scar. I love her brokenness and her mentality throughout the entire book. I love that she dances. I love that she kills. I love that she SURVIVES.

Of her growing harem, Noah is my favorite. Why, you might ask. Because at no point in time does he ever push her. He soaks up every moment he can get and is grateful for the opportunity.

I also think Rowan completely made the book. She wrecked my soul and in the best possible way.

Next on my list of favorites would be Mikey, Ronan, Ian, Holden, the boys, Joe and his wife, Josie, Britt, Jade....

Then Ryder.

Then Kade.

Then Luca.

Why are three harem members at the bottom of the list? Because I don't know enough about Ryder yet though I love him.

And Kade and Luca are dumb AF. They say they are prioritizing Scar's safety yet by fighting her instead of truly joining her crusade, they drew a line in the sand between them and her. If they would just let her do what she needs, they could keep her safer from standing beside her instead of mansplaining why she can't do something even though she is MORE than capable.

Desperately looking forward to book two and ALL the groveling.

The blurb was promising and I really wanted to liked it, but it's far from perfect. And I skipped a little because I was bored.

- ⭐ annoying repetitions of the same concepts or sentences;
- ⭐ inconsistency? There's a confusing background. In the beginning Scar said Britt could be her only friend if only she did friends, then out of the blue came her bff from high school (what was her name?). Also, we know she met Kade and Luca when she was a kid, but they also said a few times they met her after the accident;
- ⭐ all that "I remembered when" before a flash back.

Debut

Solid debit novel for this author.
This book has a lot of dialogue and imagery which I know some people love so letting you know how, you'll want this one!

Watching the relationships grow between characters was fun and very light-hearted even though this is a darker book.

This book was so good and it kept you as prisoners until the end. You wanted to know what's going on and what will happen next. Scar was such a great character and I loved her right from the beginning She went through a lot when she were younger and now she wants a revenge. But how far she's ready to go for that. This ends with cliffy and can't wait to read next book.

Beautifully heartbreaking! I loved this book and can't wait for the second one! I'm truly emotionally invested in this story now!
