Born in blood and raised in sin.

I’m the daughter to the most prolific serial killer in the United States.

Madness flows through my veins like a drug, pulling me deeper into the abyss that I can’t escape from.

I feel the mania slowly burning through my veins.

How much longer until it consumes me completely?

It’s when I meet Caelian Morelli that everything changes.

A man whose darkness matches mine.

He lives for death. An assassin. A murderer.

Son of the Morelli mafia, he’s both possessive and vicious in the way he watches me.

There’s something about his devilish nature that draws me in.

He’s the match to my flame.

I tell myself we are an impossibility.

But it doesn’t stop me from walking straight into the fire.

Though, when my past becomes my present, my life hangs in the balance.

I’ve always wanted to be the hunter, though in the end, will I become the hunted?

➽ KITTY KATS CRAZY ABOUT BOOKS

Fuck this was PHENOMENAL, crazy, UNPUTDOWNABLE, unique, DARK, gritty and everything in between, and then we hit the CLIFFY, and I nearly lost my mind. So many questions sped through my mind trying to GUESS who it WAS!?! ...

This one was high on my radar from the start, one read of the synopsis and I wanted it in my hands, awaiting release day was a killer, now after inhaling this, I feel like I've spent an eternity in crazy town. This had so many things going on, from a murdering cult upbringing to living with an Aunt and Uncle who had an unorthodox way of teaching gods lessons.

WHAT THE FUCK DID I JUST READ?!?

And that's just her story, HIS STORY is just as bad!! OMG I can't wrap my mind over all the wrongs of this book, so wrong but O so good!! I NEED that NEXT book!!

275552197-414218890493792-1188698677079585299-n

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE; What the ever loving fuck, then we're thrown a COPYCAT KILLER into the mix!! That just made it that much more sit on the edge of your seat kind of read!!

I could just go on and yell some more but god I'm out, this book grabbed me from the start and didn't let go until I got thrown over that cliffy, I crazy loved this, you would think you'd not connect with these characters but trust me when I say you do. You get so immersed in their stories, you become them, this was so well done.

The only thing I'd change about this is the cover, this book was so edgy and the cover needs to showcase that, maybe a raven? Because if I didn't know and love this author I would've overlooked this book because of the cover. That's just my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I do love the cover as it has all my favorite colours but it doesn't showcase this book at all..

1.5 stars (I really tried to give this book the benefit of the doubt but I can't)

I was misled by this book. BIG time.

It's about underground fighters. Our heroine is trying to escape her hellish home (of her aunt & uncle) by training to be a skilled fighter. And one day, she asked our hero for his help in training her.

That's it. That's the plot.

Now, I was under the impression that this is going to be a super gritty dark romance, girl dissecting dead animals and becoming a psychopath and meets another psychopath sort of thing. It's NOT. It's barely that. Sure, they both killed people (or helped killing people) in the past but they're so tame. It's... just okay. The uncle and aunt, now that's the kind of psychopaths I want a book around. But these two MCs, are just too tame for me.

P.S. What annoyed me the most is that people says this book reminded them of the masterpiece that is Mindfck series. Maybe in a different universe. No correlation whatsoever.

Thank you so much to the author & peachy keen for this ARC!

you like dark romance? THIS is dark romance. have you recently read the mindfck series and want smtg similar?? THIS.

daughter of a serial killer and a murderer who’s teaching her how to kill?? i was sold. & when i started reading more about caelian ?? I FELL IN LOVE. that man is all sorts of toxic but in the best way possible.

i absolutely loved the relationship between the two characters. they grew from enemies to lovers and created such a deep connection, that i don’t think bf/gf is a good way to describe them. the plot was so interesting, i felt like i was watching an episode of criminal minds! it was incredibly well written & left me wanting more!

TW:Foul language, criminal activity, drug use, physical and sexual abuse are included in this book, a lot of murders and dying and fights

Also we have a cliffhanger here ladies and gays.

Plot
The h (Raven) is a fighter and she can fight to bruise but not to kill and she sees H(Caelian) killing someone in a fight and asks him to train her.
She wants to leave her Aunt and Uncle, the people she is actually living with along with her cousin Aria.
She cannot leave per say because all she loves is Aria so she's sticking around with them for her sake.
Raven's uncle and aunt are very religious people so they are a menace to her life
(Ngl those people are some real dipshits i like them even though I'd like to burn them alive)
Also now we have someone from Raven's past coming up to kill her and we gotta see who that is

I liked the plot
The characters were nice.
But things didn't hit.
They weren't psychopaths really.
Yeah they killed people but no ..not psychopaths
Just disconnected and UNFEELING and trying to be very robot like people that like to kill.

I don't like it when characters talk so much about how dark they are and how they're a sociopath and how they're like not like other people and so bloodthirsty and all they wanna do is kill people
Like...please do things and not say it repeatedly because it gets annoying like goddamn okay i get it you're such a "dark" person.
Also there's nothing wrong to want love
You can be a dark broken person and want love and still read romance novels
So much damn potential.
It got better by the end
I really would want to read the next book to see what the cliffhanger gives me

1.5 stars.

Let me summarize this book through Caelian’s perspective:
I hate women, I’m bad and dark and scary, women are only meant for sex and it’s pathetic, I don’t feel anything, I don’t care about her, she’s mine, must kill now, I don’t care about her, she’s mine.

When the author said this story was dark they weren't kidding. This is my first time reading A.R. Breck and I am hooked!! This story is dark, sexy and full of emotions that I never saw coming. Caelian and Raven were damaged and deadly but the connection they shared was unreal. This is the story of when an assassin and the daughter of serial killers come together and let the world burn around them. I loved every word of this!! That ending was insane!! Now on to book two! 4 stars! ~ Ratula

I'm a little on the fence with this book but ultimately decided to give it 4 Stars because overall the story was interesting and kept me reading. Honestly it started out really strong and I loved getting Raven's inner thoughts and seeing that rage inside her build while she tried to control it. It was intriguing and almost suspenseful to wait and see what would be the thing that made her fully snap.

But then it took SO long to get to that point and the story in between just became repetitive. I've said it before and I'll probably say it a million times more but I don't enjoy it when a book has to constantly tell us something happened or that a character is/feels a certain way. I want to see it and experience it, not just know that it happened. And sure there were some crazy scenes in this book but mostly it felt more like we had to be told over and over again just how *~Dark~* the characters were and that they had "urges" for bad things. And for Raven, once we hit like 30%, it was like that badass darkness completely went away. She would fly off the handle at times and act so tough and yet was constantly getting knocked around, abused by some psycho religious freaks, and bullied by mean girls. It felt like her character changed and it wasn't a fun change for me.

The storyline also started to feel like it was dragging. Looking back now I can't really say a lot happened in the book other than the same cycle of Raven fighting, talking about how she comes from bad blood, being abused, more inner thoughts of her badness, and then some slightly romantic scenes. Then a copycat serial killer was thrown in the mix and honestly the first time that was mentioned I was caught off guard and felt like I missed something. It was like the author just threw this storyline in in the middle of an ongoing story and then barely gave it any page time. Sure it was there and there was a little mystery surrounding it but there would be chunks of the story that it wasn't mentioned at all and then suddenly the killer's back and Caelian was investigating him?

As a side now, I think my most hated character in this book was Aria. Even more than her psycho parents. She was so whiny and flipped back and forth from being the "good child" brainwashed by her parents and acted like she didn't hear them abusing Raven over and over, then at times she was yelling that she hated them and wanted to get away. I was over it very quickly and honestly I think I hated her the first time she was introduced. I could just tell she was going to be that naïve idiot I'd want to slap.

I know I just went on a big rant about this book and it probably seems like I hated it, but I didn't. And I do think it deserves the 4 Stars because it made me feel this passionately about it. And again, it was intriguing, I can't deny that. I'm already moving on to the next book but I do have to say I'm not sure how these characters can deserve 3 books so we'll see what happens. Their story already seems a little too long for them.

i capped out after chapter 20. what pissed me off so much was the fact that raven was a little bitch when it comes to her aunt & uncle. ik she was saying “oh i’m doing it for aria” BUT HELLO???

these people beat you & locked you in the basement for a week, nasty uncle fuckface put his fingers in your vagina to see if you were “intact”, burned you with a cross, threw burning “holy” water on you, then knocked you over the head, gave you a concussion, knocked you over the head AGAIN with a pan, locked you up in the basement AGAIN, locked you in a cage with chains, took a cane & started beating you NAKED, & nasty uncle fuckface checked to see if you were “intact” AGAIN.

& after all that she still wouldn’t beat their ass??? i would’ve been okay with just one punch or a kick to the balls or something but no & then to top it all off the way they died was so unsatisfying like…

also aria why were you crying over your parents dying like bitch they were crazy i would’ve tortured & decapitated them.

even the cliffhanger wouldn’t make me read the next book. THIS SUCKED ASS.

**I received an ARC in exchange for my review**

READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS and do not ignore them if you feel they will cause you issues!! I think I am always going to start my reviews with that statement. Simply because an author should not be given a negative review because someone decided to ignore their warnings.

That being said.... FUUUUUUU%%%KKKK! Holy... what.. wow... words.. I have none. That was one hell of a ride. Raven and Caelian are a match made in f*#ked up hell. This is definitely a book that should be read without any context as to what is going to happen. It was so freaking dark and delicious!

OMG THIS AUTHOR IS BRILLIANT!!! This story was so freaking amazing Caelian and Raven are literally everything you love about a dark twisted couple both are different but yet the same I don’t even know where to begin with this story I’ve never read anything like it ! It’s dark gritty dangerous and so intense but yet emotional sexy and super hot this story drew me in and held hostage it would not let me go and that ending left my jaw on the floor and wondering what the hell is going on I have so many questions my main one is who is THE COPYCAT CROW KILLER I have my suspicions but as I’ve learned with this authors writing expect the unexpected so I have really no clue who it could be and I’ll be anxiously waiting for the next book. This book was amazing it deserves all the stars ! Magnificent phenomenal I am utterly speechless!

”There is no greater knowledge than
knowing that even your blood will belong to me.

With the way the cover looks I never expected for the book to be this dark. But it got me hoocked. I couldn’t stop.

Raven:
I shouldn't care, because I really don't. But the feminine side of me, the girl that lives beneath the mania, hates that she can't feel, can't experience, like all of them can.
I desperately want love, yet I despise that I want it so bad. I don't ever want to be in a vulnerable position like that, but I also want to experience what the world speaks of.

Love.

From a very young age has been a daddy’s girl. At a very young age, she saw something no child should see; her parents having a sex/murder cult. They were basically serial killers. One day, when her parents asked her to kill one of their victims because she is a Crow, she marks the victim, with a knife, a sign of crow. Which marks her as a now “murder”.
As they got caught, she was sent to her aunts and uncle and cousin Aria’s home:
“People have said my life before was one of walking through Hell. The evil and the tainted. They don't realize that I've stepped away from one hell, and directly into another.”

From as long as she can remember, she knows that there is something dark within her that is thirst for blood. As much as she tried to hide it from her “innocent” cousin, it got out. Her aunt and uncle abuse/assault her because they wanted to get ride of that sins and make her atone them… in the worst possible way. Even now writing it, makes me sick:
“my parents worship the devil. They worship the darkness.
My aunt and uncle worship God. They worship the light.
But their obsession makes them both filled with a madness that drives them to the brink of insanity.”

When she and her cousin were sponsee to attend a school, she meets Caelian Morelli, who she knows/felt right away that he already possess darkness and embraces it. When he punches her in the nose at the fighting ring, she decides to asks him, to help her get better in fighting like he is. At first he wasn’t interested, but he doesn’t know why, she made him feel things he never felt before:
I crave nothing, yet you're a fucking addiction that i can't get away from.

Caelian: he loves to kill the evil. When he meets Raven, he taught she was like any other girl that he saw. But then, he got really possessive and wanted to possess her in every possible way. When, a copy cat murder(of Raven’s dad) is after her, he became reluctant on having her. This man is a freakin’ walking red flag. A bright one. But the things he does are 🔥: your darkness matched mine. Perfectly.

”I don't understand your emotions, but I'll grip you tightly as you tread those waters. I'll pull you to the surface when you're drowning in the madness.
I'll breathe the air into your lungs as you choke on the overwhelming death. You are a killer. I am a killer. We fight death. We create death. We are the same. I am not going anywhere."

And that cliffhanger..!!!

Holy killer couple! This is the first book of the Blackridge Prep Series and it was so dark and messed up, I loved every minute of it.
Raven is the daughter of serial killer parents and is living with her aunt and uncle and her cousin Aria. Raven knows that she has a darkness about her and her aunt and uncle see it too so they try to beat the darkness out of her and help her atone for any sins. When Raven meets Caelian she feels akin to him and his dark murderous ways. She asks him to train her to kill those that have wronged her and to harness her darkness. Can Caelian keep her safe and harness her wildness before she does something crazy?
This book wasn’t spicy by any means, but the dominance of Caelian and the angst was HOT! This does end in a cliffhanger and you will have to pick your kindle up off the other side of the room after throwing it. Cannot wait to see where the next book takes us.

I think A.R. Breck broke me. I seriously think she did. The amount of emotions I went through in this book… goodness gracious.

Throughout the entire book I was on the edge of my seat. Seriously. Right from the first page I knew that things were not going to go the way I thought they would. And it didn’t.

This author slayed the darkness with this hard to read, dark gritty tale. The amount of times my heart rate spiked, my palms got clammy, my eyes trying to read faster so I can see how it all unfolded, my foot tapping the floor, this had me on the edge of my seat too many times to count.

Please please 𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦 read the trigger warnings. This book is not for the faint of the heart, but if you want it dark and downright dirty- then this is definitely the perfect book!

So I could NOT put this book down, I LOVED it, it was so dark and twisted and everything that I love.

Adored Raven right from the get go, she is so strong and a lil crazy which I love.

Caelian… THIS MAN. Possessive, sexy as sin, touch her and you die, I’ll kill everyone who wronged you vibes all round, everything you need in a guy really.

Slowly getting into the story it really picked up after their first encounter and honestly I loved it, they are both so cold and unsure of what real feelings are, Cae cares for no one and but the way he is with our girl Raven.. UGH, even Rosko loved her??? Like yes!

I am so stoked for book 2, I went right off Aria at the end of this one but I hope she sorts her sh*t out asap, i am so here for Gabriel and Matteo, their books would be so freakin’ goood!

WAY TO LEAVE US ON A CLIFFY GIRL.

I have my theories on who it is…

Book 2 cannot wait for you..

Holy. F*cking. Shit! The ride AR Breck just took my on was crazy as hell! But I absolutely LOVED every single second of it. I wish I could erase it all just to read it again. I’m so obsessed!

Plot: 5/5
The plot was f*cking crazy, but in the best possible way. I knew right from the prologue that I was going to be on one hell of a ride. And let me tell you, it was a dark & delicious one!
I loved how there were glimpses of the past just to tie everything together. There were some disturbing parts in here that some people might cringe at (mainly two that made me cringe). But I felt they needed to be in there to get the full effect on what was happening.
I just loved the whole aspect of this book. I was hooked and never wanted it to end. There were so many questions left unanswered and I can’t wait to get the second book already.

Characters: 5/5
The characters were perfect! Even the side characters (Gabriel, Matteo, & Aria).
Caelian is dark and sexy. He knows who is and isn’t afraid. I love how possessive he got over Raven. I honestly loved every dark and twisted thing about him.
Raven is this messed up girl who is trying to figure out herself. And it isn’t easy when her parents were serial killers. I loved how she wasn’t just some perfect FMC.
These two together were amazing. They were similar in ways and that’s what drew them together. (Not before starting off as enemies, of course!)

Spice: 3/5
There were a couple of spicy scenes in here, but I would say it was more of a slow burn. (The scenes were amazing though!) There was so much more plot, which there needed to be. I preferred all the amazing plot instead of missing plot to throw in spice. And there was angst and banter between them that was *chef’s kiss*!

Overall: 5/5
Absolutely phenomenal! I’m so obsessed with these characters and need more of them immediately! If you love dark, dark romance, I 100% recommend picking this up. You will not be disappointed.

ARC in exchange for honest review!!!

Let me start by saying this.. A.R. Breck is one of my all time fav authors. This book was everything i expected from this author and so so much more. I hadn't read in months and this was the first book i actually picked up didnt even read the blurb and read in one sitting. I have not been able to read anything for months and this got me out of my slump and i knew it would.

Let me say ive always been obsessed with the name Raven, i even have a bird named Raven. So when i saw that she was named Raven was a bonus for me. From start to finish i wanted more and more and in the end with that cliffy OMG i was left gobsmacked..

This story was not for the faint hearted as it is very dark and so twisted and i loved every second of it!!! Bring on April,,

There are several points I must mention in this review, and most of them address the characters. Raven attempts to pose as a woman lacking control with murder pulsing in her veins, but I cannot count with a hand how many times she collapsed. I am exhausted from reading “Everything turned black” every few chapters. The girl can be engulfed in a jealous rage over someone who poured applesauce on her but cannot defend herself against two adults abusing her at every chance they get. She seems to yearn for blood and lack control, yet she doesn’t attack her aunt and uncle. She has probably beaten up dozens double their size in the Inferno, but she remains weak. Moreover, it was said that the aunt and uncle loved her to an extent, but that obviously is not the case.

Not to mention, Raven makes my entire body shudder with second-hand embarrassment. She talks so much shit but gets thrown onto the ground within seconds. She is overdramatic at the wrong times. Make it make sense. She claims that Caelian left a “footprint on her soul” after a mere glimpse at his form, which is quite a stretch, but I’ll let it pass. What I can’t forgive is her admitting that her father is the Crow Killer after only a few encounters with Caelian. I was thrilled for his extreme reaction when he found out on his own, but the book robbed me of that.

I don’t know what Raven thought when she invited Aria to the Inferno. Also, her obsession with protecting her cousin was getting infuriating. She did not have to mention it every time Aria entered her peripheral vision.

She’s also so submissive. She tries to think like a badass, but her actions are not matching up.

For Caelian, I have a range of opinions. At times, he treats Raven like a child. At others, he’s rather sweet. I can’t find a logical reason to explain why the son of a mafia is attending a public school, but it is what it is. He is depicted as a tattooed, intimidatingly attractive male with a raspy voice, which is a great move to buy my affection, but he can be so immature.

My favourite character of all is not a human at all. I love Rosko with everything I have. He is the sole reason I completed this book feeling decently contented. I adore the trope in which the pet adores the owner’s partner.

The book is filled with ‘aw but ew’ moments. I don’t know how else to describe them. 3.5/5 because of Rosko.

𝐇𝐎𝐖 𝐂𝐀𝐍 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐏𝐑𝐀𝐈𝐒𝐄 𝐆𝐎𝐃 𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐍 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐁𝐎𝐃𝐘 𝐈𝐒 𝐌𝐀𝐃𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐒?

My God, what did I just read?

First: WOW!
This book was quite an adventure, I just got into it with an ease that surprised me. The writing, the characters… everything so perfect, I can't say less than that.

𝐈 𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖, 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐓 𝐀 𝐃𝐎𝐔𝐁𝐓, 𝐈’𝐌 𝐉𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝐀𝐒 𝐏𝐒𝐘𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐈𝐂. 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐈𝐅 𝐈’𝐌 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐘𝐄𝐓, 𝐈 𝐒𝐔𝐑𝐄𝐋𝐘 𝐖𝐈𝐋𝐋 𝐁𝐄. 𝐒𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐃𝐀𝐘.

Raven… oh, I love this one.

(To be honest, I didn't expect anything from this book and I got everything, the dark romance, a suspense, a sexual tension… )

“𝐈 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐋𝐃 𝐃𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐘𝐎𝐔, 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖. 𝐃𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐓𝐎 𝐓𝐄𝐋𝐋 𝐌𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐓𝐑𝐔𝐓𝐇. 𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐒𝐓, 𝐃𝐈𝐑𝐓𝐘 𝐒𝐄𝐂𝐑𝐄𝐓𝐒.”

And, of course, a BADASS protagonist. I can't describe her, I can't!
I'm in love with Raven, this girl who went through so much abuse and evil, I love the way she wants to "control herself" but at the same time wants to let it all out, the author's writing doesn't let you get tired and you just want to know more about the character. She's amazing and so well built, a fucked up past (how I love it).

Caelian is very different from the men I'm used to meeting in dark romance books. I swear I laughed a lot when I read his scene with Raven in Inferno, but seriously, for a woman to fall in love, you just punch her right in the face, right? HAHAHAHA Despite this scene, he is a perfect character.
He doesn't belittle Raven or fuck her like most do, he treats her like the badass she is and seriously, it doesn't get any better than that.
I love the fact that everyone says he's a sociopath, because that gives you a lot to explore what he's like and the author used that really well, especially in his and Raven scenes. They are so well constructed that I forgot I was reading and not really present at that moment.

“𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐘 𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐒 𝐓𝐎 𝐊𝐈𝐋𝐋.” “ 𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐘𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐈𝐒 𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐄 𝐓𝐎 𝐊𝐈𝐋𝐋.”

And the cliffhanger at the end? I'm going to keep quiet, because as much as I've freaked out with those last moments, God have mercy on me.

I loved it, deserved five stars, from beginning to end, and even though the chapters were a little long, I didn't mind this time. I recommend it a lot.

There are some aspects I really enjoyed about this novel, some I really couldn't connect or jive with.

What I liked:
+1: I really enjoyed the story line and history of both young Raven and Caelian. I think they are very unique individuals, with very unique and horrifying circumstances that have impacted their personality, ability to cope, and emotions through various traumas.
+2: I loved Caelian's character, and his protective nature of Raven stemming from an internal instinct he is warring with.
+3: I love the cliffhanger!

What I didn't like:
-1: The repetitive nature to emphasize the characters and how different they are, where they get their traits from, etc. (e.g. Caelian is like his mother with how cold she is, it doesn't need to be repeated 4 times in the first 200 pages, Raven hates touch except for Aria, etc.).
-2: The deaths felt anticlimactic. One even felt entirely useless (Trina), though I understand it emphasized how their darkness matches perfectly. It just felt like such a waste, and there was no discussion afterward considering she is a Congressman's daughter. Will this be a bigger issue or concern in book 2? I'll have to find out.
-3: In the beginning - Raven is the ultimate badass. Then suddenly, she becomes a wuss after Caelian steps in. Why? It was entirely unnecessary to kill this character's strength, have her become a damsel in distress, just so Caelian could shine. Caelian would have shined even more if she wasn't so hopeless all of a sudden. You cannot tell me this tiny girl could win every fight before she met Caelian, but then all of a sudden loses her gusto because he breaks her nose. Please stop killing strong main character, badass women, just to make it more plausible that they need to be rescued by a bigger and badder male.

I have hope for book 2, and look forward to reading more.

I wanted to love this one, I really did. But this fell flat for me. There was too much freaking inner dialogue!! We probably could've shaved off 200 pages of inner dialogue and constantly reading about the darkness Cae and Raven have. Or the itch under their skin. Seriously, it was over and over. I wanted action!! Give me something.

How about more details with the Aunt and Uncle? Or more with Cae's family and involving Raven in that more? Instead, we get her trying to be strong, but being an uncontrollable, immature 17-year-old. I mean if you are going to write a dark book with a 17 FMC, please for the love of all that's holy, give her a freaking backbone. Don't get me wrong she finds it off and on, but then she loses it. She should've ended her Aunt and Uncle the first time they tried to lay hands on her. Isn't she supposed to be this awesome fighter that people fear? LOL...yeah the contradictions in this book are all over.

It ends on a cliff-hanger and I'm not sure if I want to see where the next one goes. I probably will though because I'm a gluten for punishment. Maybe I can hope this next book has more action instead of all the pitty woe is me crap.

I was actually kinda excited when I started reading this book because she’s in a messed up, abusive home of her aunt and uncle, she seems like a bad ass and great underground fighter and ahe is tough as nails but only loves her cousin aria. Her father was some kind of murderer person?

Okay.

Then she fights the H in a fight and gets her ass kicked in like 3 minutes 🤣 dummy h! You might be fast but one should know when the odds are stacked against you.

I dnfed. The first 20% is how much she feels like she wants to murder someone and needs the inferno underground place to fight off her demons. The word burning is used. A. Lot. Burning blood. Burning desire. Burning need. I’m no doctor but they might want to get that checked out.

The writing did not work for me either. She stops the entire story to make sure you know that the Hs brothers nose is 3.24 mm wider than his. And she makes sure you know what color clothes they’re all wearing. I’d rather read abo it emotions and feelings and love than this.

Dnfed this bull shiet

4.5 stars -

Caelian reminds me of Z from the Haunting/Hunting Adeline Duet. This book definitely traverses the lines of Dark Romance with interest. There's plenty of religious trauma, mental health, and so much darkness surrounding the secret society (The Inferno). I couldn't put it down. The plot was quick, there was some spice, but the hallmark is hands down the religious trauma and her growing into her own (or beginning to...).

The mystery angle is a great way to have a current of serial killer intrigue running under the whole romance/growing up/abuse thing. It’s freaking genius.

My only reason for the half star was the age. 16, high school, it felt a little odd to me. It easily could have been scaled up to 20's or even 30's with little plot interference.

If you liked the Mindf*ck series by ST ABBY and The Sinners Duet by Sophie Lark, you should read this book. I have been looking for a book like this where the MC and the FMC are both unalivers. He’s the assassin for his family’s mafia and she’s the daughter of a serial killer. They both have the “touch them and you 💀” vibes. BOTH OF THEM. I mean, Cealian litterally breaks the arm of some kid at school when he’s 10 years old because this kid took his youngest brother’s lunch box away from him at school so his little brother didn’t get to eat all day. So he breaks the kids arm because of it. Imagine how he feels when someone even BREATHES on Raven wrong!

Anyways, this is book one in a trilogy so YES this will end on a cliff hanger. But book 2 comes out in April and book 3 is out in May 😁
